Sofi and Aaron met on February 6, 2021, at the Newman Center at SDSU. She was there for a weekend conference called SEEK and he was there to help with music ministry for the evening. They were introduced by a mutual friend (shout out to Josh) but neither of them thought much of their brief conversation. It wasn’t until a few weeks later when Aaron slid into her DMs, got her number, and asked her out. Little did Aaron know, that the day he first contacted Sofi was the last day of her St. Joseph novena for her future husband. Sofi and Aaron went on their first date on February 23 and realized their mutual love for pop punk, closeness with family, and passion for their faith. After that initial date, Sofi cherished the way Aaron pursued her and cared for her. Aaron admired Sofi’s tenderness and sweet spirit. They became “official” on March 15, 2021 in the Newman Center parking lot, the same place where they had first met. The love they had for each other grew over the following months and on May 2, they exchanged their first “I love you.”

Aaron’s original plan, before he met Sofi, was to move to Nashville in May of 2021 for two years. God had something else in mind for him, and after meeting and falling for Sofi, Aaron decided to spend only the summer in Nashville. Aaron wanted to move back to San Diego sooner than he had originally planned in order to be closer to Sofi. During those three months apart in the summer of 2021, Aaron and Sofi facetimed almost every day. Many of these calls included long talks discerning their call to marriage and the question slowly went from “if” to “when” they were going to get married. Finally, at the end of the summer, they were reunited when Aaron moved back to San Diego! Friends and family witnessed the love they had for God and one another grow every day. On January 30, 2022, Aaron got down on one knee and popped the question at Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá. Since moving down to San Diego, Sofi loved visiting the Mission and would dream about getting married there one day. Not only did Aaron propose to her at the Mission, but they get to exchange vows in the wedding of their dreams there as well!
