Aaron: Life before Natalie

Starting 2016, over the next 7 Years, Aaron travelled across 3 continents, 12 countries, living in 5 USA cities and Berlin, Germany. In 2023, he started living in Sterling Heights, Michigan while working as an Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI. Across Aaron’s travels, he partnered with a wide range of Christian Ministries, from Creative Arts Ministries to House Churches. He wanted to continue engaging with those types of Ministries. In 2023, he became a trustee to “Ananias International,” a Ministry that serves persecuted Christians by developing safe houses. The founder is Will Duggan, a Groomsman.

Starting in 2016, over the next 7 Years, Natalie was following a life-long call to serve God by doing Creative Arts Ministry. She did an Art Ministry Internship in Kentucky, Live Painted at 21 Ministries, displayed art in 20 galleries and taught many art classes. In 2021, she became a Missionary with United Adoration, discipling artists across the USA and internationally, traveling to 10 states, 14 cities, and Brazil. She lived in Michigan, attending a church in Ann Arbor, then Auburn Hills. After that time, God called her to join a House Church.

PROLOGUE

In 2022, Natalie “jokingly” asked God where her future husband would be living. She immediately heard God say “Sterling Heights, Michigan.” She was curious about that answer, because she did not know anyone who lived in Sterling Heights.

May 2023, Aaron was presented with two options: traveling to his favorite vacation spot—Iceland, with Will. Or, attend a gathering for Christians in their 30’s—a Dance Party near Auburn Hills. Aaron had an uncanny feeling that he may meet “a lady” at this event.

HER STORY - Natalie was invited to these same Young Adult Gatherings for several months, and was always busy traveling for Ministry—until May. She struggled having motivation to attend: Natalie had plenty of gal-friends, but said “I GUESS I have to go to meet a man. What a drag.” She called her friend Jophie, imploring for a wing-woman.

HER STORY - Natalie was invited to these same Young Adult Gatherings for several months, and was always busy traveling for Ministry—until May. She struggled having motivation to attend: Natalie had plenty of gal-friends, but said “I GUESS I have to go to meet a man. What a drag.” She called her friend Jophie, imploring for a wing-woman.
HIS STORY - Aaron arrives on time to the party. He connected with attendees for an hour, and did not feel a spark. Then Natalie arrived, and he thought “Target acquired.” Upon his first opportunity, he engaged in conversation with her. After talking for an hour, they discovered their common interest in House Churches, International Ministry, Creative Ministry, and charismatic churches. Aaron longed for a wife who was a Missionary, so he was overjoyed when Natalie asked for his number. Aaron was going camping for a week… and could not wait to return immediately.

HIS STORY - Aaron arrives on time to the party. He connected with attendees for an hour, and did not feel a spark. Then Natalie arrived, and he thought “Target acquired.” Upon his first opportunity, he engaged in conversation with her. After talking for an hour, they discovered their common interest in House Churches, International Ministry, Creative Ministry, and charismatic churches. Aaron longed for a wife who was a Missionary, so he was overjoyed when Natalie asked for his number. Aaron was going camping for a week… and could not wait to return immediately.

THE BEGINNING

FIRST DATE - Memorial Day Weekend, they planned their first date to be 2 hours… which became 11 hours. They talked with ease, discovered they have similar humor, theology, connection with God, and the time flew by! Natalie was impressed by Aaron’s contemplative drawings, woodworking and cooking skills. Aaron was impressed by her wit, empathy, and self-confidence. They sat down on a large park swing in downtown Detroit, and an elderly woman watched nearby. She commented they were so cute and she wanted to take a picture for them. Aaron said to her, “Thank you for peering into the future for us,” and gave her his phone (see picture). By the end of the night, he sang a Worship Song in German to her, and they agreed to go on a second date 4 days later.

They arrived at the Detroit Princess Riverboat Cruise for dinner and a show. During dinner, a waiter observed how happy, cute and loving they were to each other. He commented, “Love is in the air! Can’t wait till I have a relationship like that.” Aaron was awestruck by Natalie’s beauty, while knowing that she would travel a LOT for ministry that summer. He wanted to be intentional with each date he could have her.

SECOND DATE - Aaron wanted to surprise Natalie with the destination and invited her to dress up fancy. He arrived at her home in a suit, with two bouquets, for Natalie and for her mom. They arrived at the Detroit Princess Riverboat Cruise for dinner and a show. During dinner, a waiter observed how happy, cute and loving they were to each other. He commented, “Love is in the air! Can’t wait till I have a relationship like that.” Aaron was awestruck by Natalie’s beauty, while knowing that she would travel a LOT for ministry that summer. He wanted to be intentional with each date he could have her.

They held hands during the wedding ceremony and entertained each other with banter and charming commentary. Natalie met his sister, Abigail (who is a bridesmaid), who interrogated Natalie. When Aaron & Abigail were alone, she said to him, “I love her. Don’t mess this up.”
FIFTH DATE - Aaron went to Natalie and her family’s house for dinner. He spent time with her dad (Mark), mom (Cindy), brother (Jared), and played with their dog (Coda). FIFTH DATE - Aaron went to Natalie and her family’s house for dinner. He spent time with her dad (Mark), mom (Cindy), brother (Jared), and played with their dog (Coda). FAMILY HOLIDAY - The next three days continued to be meaningful and magical as Natalie and Aaron enjoyed getting to know each other more deeply and connecting with his amazing parents. Aaron’s parents were bewildered that Natalie was a real person—Aaron’s mom thought she was perfect for her son! Even at the beginning, they felt at home with each other.
