Nicole and Aaron’s love story began with a couple of right swipes on Tinder (thank you good Wi-Fi), leading to something much more meaningful. Aaron vividly recalls their first date, nervously waiting outside his car, attempting not to look awkward. When Nicole finally got into the correct car, neither knew that this was the start of something special. They spent Aaron’s last year at Oneonta together, and their bond only grew stronger. Aaron will never forget Nicole’s spontaneous singing on their second date, and from that moment, he knew she was someone special - able to find joy on any occasion. After graduation, Aaron drove to Goshen, NY, and officially asked Nicole to be his girlfriend. The next two years were spent apart, with Aaron working in Albany and Nicole finishing school in Oneonta. Distance couldn’t dim their connection, as they traveled through storms and long commutes to be together. Every reunion felt like no time had passed. When Aaron got into medical school in Kansas City, they embraced the challenge of long-distance once again, supporting each other through late-night FaceTime calls and occasional weekend visits. After four years of long-distance, they knew it was time to start their life together. Aaron flew back to New York, and together they drove 17 hours to Kansas City. They adopted their sweet dog, Dobby, and built a life filled with love, laughter, and plans for the future. Then came the proposal. Aaron told Nicole they had a formal work event, so she bought a new dress, unaware of his true plan. He had secretly built an arbor at the Liberty Memorial, the perfect spot for a proposal. As they walked up the steps, Nicole joked, “This would be a great place to propose,” not knowing what was about to happen. When she saw the ring, her playful comment turned into surprise and joy. Aaron dropped to one knee, and through tears of happiness, Nicole said “yes!” They celebrated with a camping trip in the Missouri countryside, just the two of them and their dog, Dobby.
