Your classic 21st century meet cute. Karissa was not easy to track down. When I originally saw Karissa on Bumble, I was intrigued by her love of animals, outdoors, and big beautiful eyes. When we matched you could feel the love in the air! Until it was discovered that playing it "cool and laid back" was not the right approach with Karissa. As I found out later, my lack of initiation led her to going out with another guy and leaving me to wallow in the depths of ghost bumble *trademark*.
Months go by.. I'm close to solving world hunger and "boop boop" instagram DM and here she is, sending me a message about the lameness of Bumble and her desire to meet up in person. I get on the next flight from Africa to spend a lovely date night doing some classic Nanaimo activities. Turns out that Karissa had not been pining after me for the past few months, but had been reminded of me by a vet colleague and friend that I had just met a week prior at the vet clinic. My mediocre wit and energized charisma, while I was purchasing tick/flea medicine for my dog, was enough to make this friend think of Karissa and how we might just work. After she mentioned this to Karissa and gave her the details of my job she put two-and-two together and realized we had already chatted (if you wanna call it that) and that maybe she had missed out on the guy she would one day call her husband. The rest is history.
Our first date was March 18, 2020 - a date you may remember as the first day COVID-19 lockdowns set in Canada. Our first date initially involved a meet up at a coffee shop, but soon became a walk around Neck Point, 6 feet apart. 5 dates later and we finally made our two "bubbles" one, and have been one ever since :)
We credit a little bit of fate with our story and both ecstatic to never use Bumble again .
