What time is the wedding? What time should we get there?

The ceremony will begin at 2pm. There is plenty of parking at St. Thomas More, but plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to get settled in.

Is it a full Catholic mass?

Yes, it is! From the start of our relationship, we have enjoyed going to mass together. As Catholic School teachers, our faith is a big part of our life and relationship, and we are excited to share it with you! We will have programs for the little ones to keep them occupied. For the adults' entertainment, we have planned two readings, a Gospel, a homily, petitions, vows and Communion, along with the best singer/piano player the greater Iowa City area has to offer. It will take approximately 60 minutes. As John Mulaney once wisely said, "it's only an hour." Enjoy!

What should we do between the mass and the reception?

There is the standard and quite lovely 2 hour gap between a Catholic wedding and the wedding reception. If you're coming from out of town and staying in Downtown Iowa City, feel free to grab a drink at one of the many bars downtown. You can also stop by the Iowa River Landing as there are lots of great options there, and you'll be right by the Interstate for easy access to the reception.

Are you offering shuttle service?

Yes! It is less than a 5 minute walk from the Hilton Garden Inn to The Graduate. The shuttle will be leaving from The Graduate to transport guests to the church for the ceremony. It will bring you back Downtown briefly before leaving again for the reception. At the end of the night, we will have shuttles leaving roughly on the hour starting at 9pm to bring guests back to the hotels so they can get tucked into bed whenever they're done partying.

I didn't select a meal when I RSVP'd. Are you going to feed me?

We are! We are doing a dual plate at dinner, so no need to make a choice, you get both chicken AND beef along with some delicious Yukon Gold mashed potatoes (fun fact: Yukon Gold is Aaron's preferred type of potato), garlic roasted broccoli and dessert. Please be sure to indicate any dietary restrictions in your RSVP so we can communicate those to the caterers. Thank you!
