After Aaron and I started to date, I started to really believe in "things happen for a reason".
The first time Aaron and I allegedly met, I do not have a recollection of him, but he does. I remember hearing about Aaron from our Best Woman, Diann, and his name started to come up even more when he was going through a breakup. From this day, I would always pay close attention and be interested when Diann and Alexis would talk about Aaron and I could not wait to meet him in person to hang out.
When we were hanging out with our friends, I was gravitated towards him but I tried my best to not make it obvious. Of course, I had to play it cool. Then one night with a little bit of Hennessy, our story began.
Then Covid happened. To the world, it had a negative impact, but to us, it was a reason to hang out more with each other. 3 and half years later, we went to Hawaii together for the first time, and to my complete surprise, he proposed.
This is the most abbreviated version of our story of us as a non married couple, and I am so excited that we get to write our story together as a married couple.
Thank you for celebrating our love with us <3
Dayeon and I met in 2017 at a house party near SF State, and I thought she was really cute. However, we were both in a relationship at that time and we went our separate ways. Fast forward 3 years, we were both single and became good friends thanks to Diann and Alexis. Anytime we went out, I remember we’d always make eye contact, feeling like something was there, but never acted on due to our friendship.
Then one night, during our normal pregame, everyone was drinking tequila except Dayeon; she was drinking Hennessy. I didn’t want to leave her to drink Hennessy alone, so I joined in and drank it with her. True Bay Area love story. After the pregame, all of our friends ended up at a bar where that same eye contact would occur. But this time we both acted on it and ended up having our first kiss. We both acknowledged our feelings for each other but weren’t ready to go further, so we stayed friends. But every once in a while I’d shoot my shot to try and be more, yet was turned down.
Right before COVID shut down the world, we finally hung out by ourselves and was able to show her who I was, as well as learn more about who she was. After our friend group's Tahoe trip in March 2020, we gave in to what we were feeling and finally got together. And as they say, the rest is history.
