Adventuring is one of our love languages. We travel A LOT. And nothing helps us recover when we get home like the Bangkok Noodles from Empty Bowl. It's a short walk away from our house, which makes it dangerously convenient.
Where it all began - get a taste of the Piña Coladas that helped the conversation flow during our first date!
This place opened in the middle of the pandemic and has been our favorite burrito & nachos stop ever since. We're OBSESSED with their blended, spicy pineapple salsa. Aaron and Ashley split an order of nachos and both end up stuuuufffed. It's one of our go-to football Sunday meals
This is our current favorite date night spot. We think they have the best Carnitas in town! You can get 4 for $12! It's a small little restaurant that reminds us of our adventures in South America! They have a unique peanut hot sauce that is very fun (though the Carnitas doesn't need any additional dressings)
The best sushi in town! Teru is a gifted chef trained in Japan before falling in love with surfing and Santa Barbara. He and Ashley worked together at Sakana before Teru opened a restaurant of his own! Get your fill of locally caught fish from Teru!
Before we moved in together, Ashley lived on the Mesa. This was easily our most visited date night location. Sources say ownership has changed - but we would always get the chicken wings!
One of the 6 countries we have traveled to is Ireland and we fell madly in love with it. So naturally, when it gets rainy and gray we often visit Dargan's for a pint of Guinness and some good ole fashioned Irish food. We spent half a day here in the early days of planning our wedding!
The mission is always hosting events, which means we can often be found hanging out with friends on a big ole blanket at the Rose Gardens. It's great for people watching, stopping to smell the roses, and picnics. In 2020, Ashley bought us a steak dinner to-go from Roy Restaurant and we had an epic birthday dinner sitting amongst the roses just the two of us.
Take a tour of the SB Courthouse - make sure that you go to the top for an epic view of Santa Barbara!
A fun part of downtown Santa Barbara with good eats, lots of winery tasting rooms, breweries, live music and an all around great time!
This is a classic Santa Barbara hike that ends with a stunning view of Santa Barbara and the ocean. Parking can be a bit of a cluster & you might have to park a mile down the road, as this is probably the most popular local hike.
If it's your first time, we recommend using the app Alltrails and downloading the map before going as there are several forks in the road.
Stearn's Wharf is an iconic part of Santa Barbara! You can park right on the pier, eat fresh seafood from Santa Barbara Shellfish company, wine taste at the Deep Wine Tasting Room, treat yourself to ice cream, visit a mini-aquarium (definitely oriented towards younger folks.. but still cool!), or just sit and watch boats coming and going out of the harbor.
It has a small footprint, but the Santa Barbara Zoo is an EXCELLENT time! Before we met, Ashley and Aaron attended multiple Zoo Brew Festivals there. Fun fact: in 2015, a picture of Aaron and his group of friends was used as the official event photo emailed out to ticket holders.
