My version of our love story looks very much the same! Over the past few years, I have been fortunate to develop friendships with many of the guys who make up the country music band, Flatland Cavalry. When I was with them in a New Orleans seafood restaurant in December of 2021, I had no idea what God had in store for me next.

When I came across Abbey’s Instagram page shortly thereafter, I did my due diligence and inquired with Jason Albers (drummer for Flatland Cavalry) about the girl who, it seemed, I had just fallen in love with from 2,000 miles away. He said he would love nothing more than for two of his friends to be together. About that time, Abbey posted a story about fried apple pies, and as the southern-fried-anything lover that I am, there was no way I was letting that conversation starter slip away.

Later Abbey and I began spending time together, which at first, meant her traveling to South Florida to visit me throughout the 2022 season. Often times she spent as much time with my parents in the stands on gameday as with me, given my sometimes unusual and always demanding schedule.

One thing I will always remember about the first time Abbey and I spent time together was that she was bold and self-confident enough to spend gameday with my parents on her very first visit. It was an incredible weekend and after everyone departed, I distinctly remember my dad telling me, “You’ve found a good one. Don’t let her get away.”

From that point onward, each and every day I am taking my dad’s advice and doing my best to keep her around. I have loved Abbey from the moment I met her, and I am so immensely grateful that God orchestrated our lives in such a way that we get to spend the rest of our lives (and eternity!) together. I can’t wait to be your husband, Abbey Grace!
