Casey and Abbey both attended Western New England University, but they never seemed to cross paths because of their different majors. In September 2018, Abbey recently started her 5th year of pharmacy school and Casey was working for local glass shop while hunting for his first job in professional sports after graduation. As the two reminisce of the past, they seem to remember very different ways of finding each other. If you ask Casey how they met, he’ll likely say they met at Paddy’s Irish Pub when Abbey embarrassingly took a JagerBomb incorrectly, and out of the kindness of his heart, he needed to help her. After that, they danced the night away and the rest was history! However, if you ask Abbey how the couple met, she would explain that during her study breaks she would mindlessly swipe away on Bumble until “this snack” caught her eye and hit her with a smooth pickup line. We’ll let you decide what really happened.

Their first real date was at a small Italian restaurant called Typical Sicilian. Casey offered to pick Abbey up, but she politely declined out of caution (have you met her dad?!). Casey really impressed Abbey on their second date where he took her horseback riding. Abbey was trying to play it cool and calm, but her horse decided to test her wits by leaving the pack and galloping around. As Abbey eventually got off the horse terrified and disgruntled, Casey laughed and even asked for a third date. While trying not to appear too eager, Abbey told him that she would meet him at the Big E. Casey sat in traffic for several hours to meet up with her, and again Abbey was impressed with his effort he made just to see her.

Casey continued to show up and prove what a gentleman he was/is as time went on. Abbey slowly let her guard down until Casey offered to babysit Wiki for a couple hours. Although Mister Wiki liked Casey, Abbey had to keep a close eye on him and politely declined until the two became closer (who wouldn’t want to steal the most perfect mini schnauzer). After several years of dating (some of which were long distance), Abbey followed Casey down to southeastern Connecticut. The two found a nice apartment and slowly added to their family by rescuing two kittens, Hops and Barley (guess who chose the names...). After a year, they moved into a rental home where again they added to their family by welcoming home their fourth rescue baby, a 2.5 year old mutt named Lola. Finally, when Casey thought they were done rescuing animals, a stray kitty, Stella, mysteriously ended up inside the couple’s home one day while Casey was away at work and Abbey happened to have the day off. To this very day, Casey still isn’t quite sure how this occurred. While Abbey was in heaven, Casey had no idea he would be living in a small zoo.

Despite living with more animals than Casey bargained for, he proposed romantically on the drawbridge in Mystic, CT on January 28, 2023. A year later, the couple bought their first home together. For the last 6 years, they have grown together, and have been there for life’s greatest and most challenging moments. They never would have guessed such a true bond, friendship, and love would have begun in Paddy’s Pub (cough, cough – Bumble). They are so excited for what the future has in store and cannot wait to celebrate their love next year in Mexico with their family and friends!
