Swipe is were it started. Whitney's job sent her to Austin to do a training with Emerson and we both happened to be on Tinder and decided to meet up for Tacos. The chemistry was there so we made plans to go to Drag Bingo the last night she was in town. Although a romantic relationship was not the in cards because of the distances we both knew there was something there that we didn't want to end with that evening so a friendship began instead.
Over the next few years we became close friends through phone calls, video messages, FaceTime, and some texting (those that know me know how terrible I am at texting). I know for the both of us we felt that we had a friendship we would have for life. In a sense we were right, but neither of us expected the day we are coming to celebrate.
Whitney came to visit me in Austin and see about a job. This trip would change everything we thought we knew about our friendship. Although it wasn't the start of our relationship it did show us that we had feelings that went beyond just friends and is when we decided to plan not one but two trips together. I would be heading to Alaska in August and we would be going to Hawaii in September for my birthday.
On the 12th a romantic relationship began. Why the wait? Well Whitney found out she got that job she came to check on back in April. With what company you ask? Emerson. Sound familiar, that's because that who her job back in Alaska would send her to take classes. Now Whitney would be the teacher instead of the student. At the end of the month I came to visit her in Alaska and she led me through a goodbye tour before she would begin to make her way to Texas.
We take our first big trip together to Hawaii! We packed this trip with activities including, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, feeding animals at a non-profit farm, dining, road trip, laying on the beach, ski diving, hiking, helicopter ride, luau, and plane rides. After this trip Whitney would return to Alaska and prepare for the final packing to official move to Texas.
Whitney lives in Texas! Not sure she was ready for the heat and the amount of bugs that live here, but she is here and her and Luna made it home at their first place.
We were on the lookout for a friend for Luna. The search took awhile and we on more than one occasion got so close, but someone beat us to it. At the time we didn't know BUT all those missed pups we were bummed about were for a reason and that reason was named Gus. Seeing Luna and him play and bound is the cutest thing on the planet.
Whitney's lease was ending and I was looking at a new job so we decided I would make the move from the South side to the North side of Austin. We landed on a great home off Anderson Mill that backs up to a creek and is the clam and quiet we were looking for. We were both excited to combine our lives and make this place feel like our home.
It's been a year! To celebrate we headed to our favorite restaurant in Austin, Comedor, and ordered our favorite meal, bone marrow tacos. Following we went to a swanky speakeasy called Here Nor There.
We just want to say a huge thank you for coming to celebrate with us on this very special day.
