Not long after I (Abby) moved to Oklahoma City and joined the church Lucas attended, we were briefly introduced during a Wednesday night after-church volleyball activity. We immediately became interested in each other.
After a couple of months, I just had to do something to get to know Lucas better. On a Sunday evening after church, I mustered up the courage to send Lucas a Facebook friend’s request. Lucas accepted my request that same night and followed up with a request to be friends on Instagram as well.
On that following Wednesday during another volleyball activity, Lucas initiated a conversation with me with a line I’ll never forget, “I think we’ve run out of social media platforms to follow each other on”. That line turned into a 2-hour conversation and the start of an exciting journey.
We exchanged phone numbers, began texting and phone calling, and had our first date a week later at Commonplace Books in Oklahoma City. We became official on August 19th.
Over the next 9 months, we experienced a natural closeness to one another and quickly saw our lives merging together in the most perfect way. We fell in love with one another’s families and developed relationships with the important people in each other’s lives.
From the very beginning, it was obvious that God had done something very special in bringing us together. And before long, it became clear that God intended us for each other.
On May 16th, Lucas proposed at the exact location where we had our first date. Without hesitation, I said yes!
We are excited for our forever together and to be unified as one in marriage surrounded by our family and closest friends.
