Abby and Russ’s journey began like so many modern love stories—through a simple swipe on Bumble. But little did they know, this swipe would turn into a love story that would span cities, states, and many adventures. Though their relationship became long-distance shortly after meeting, Abby and Russ never let the miles between them define what they shared. For over a year, they traveled back and forth, finding joy in every visit. Whether it was standing in the glass boxes at the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago (also—reluctantly—referred to as the Willis Tower), or spending New Year’s Day exploring the quirky House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin, they made the most of every moment together—turning each trip into a new chapter of their story. But it wasn’t just about the places they visited; it was the way they built their bond. There was the time Abby stood at the edge of the glass box on the Sky Deck, her heart racing as she looked down at the dizzying heights. “I’ll never get in there,” she said. But Russ, with his patient encouragement and infectious teasing, convinced her to (metaphorically) “take the leap.” And when she did, they were standing side by side, very terrified but even more in love. It was in that moment, high above the city, that Abby realized she loved him—and Russ knew they could face anything, as long as they did it together. Through all their adventures, one thing has always been constant: their shared sense of humor. From the first Bumble message, Abby and Russ had the uncanny ability to make each other laugh, often with corny Dad jokes that only they seem to truly appreciate. Whether it’s a perfectly timed pun or a goofy one-liner, their jokes are a reminder that life is better when you don’t take it too seriously—especially when you have someone by your side who “gets it.” And then, there was the proposal. On a beautiful day in Carrollton, GA, Russ and Abby took a walk along the scenic Greenbelt. As they took in the view, Abby remarked on how beautiful the scenery was—and casually joked about Russ proposing right then and there. Without missing a beat, Russ dropped down to one knee. Abby, thinking he was just playing along with her joke, laughed it off... until she realized he wasn’t laughing. At that moment, she still didn’t quite believe it was really happening—and had to be convinced (several times!) that he wasn’t pranking her. “Did I really just troll my own proposal?” Abby thought, horrified by the realization that she almost missed the most important moment of their lives. Despite the playful confusion, the love was clear, and that moment sealed their future together. From long-distance, to long-term, to forever, Abby and Russ’s love has been built on trust, adventure, and the willingness to face the unknown together (and don’t forget the Dad jokes!). Today, they’re ready for their greatest adventure yet: becoming husband and wife.
