Abby was set up on a date night with Bobby, a member of the Cornell DU fraternity, set up for a whimsical 80s-themed night. The date night was filled with dancing and drinking at Moonies in the Ithaca Commons. However, there was a twist in the plot when Abby seemingly abandoned Bobby, citing the need to assist a sick friend. Much to Bobby's surprise, he later spotted her in an Uber headed to another party.

Despite this abrupt departure, Abby and Bobby reconnected and revived their connection. Bobby surprised Abby by inviting her to two more DU events, showing a willingness to move past the initial hiccup. As the school year drew to a close, Abby, bound for Buffalo, invited Bobby to visit, (who was stuck at Cornell for 1 last final exam), half-expecting him to decline. To her delight, he accepted, and Abby introduced Bobby to her family and the city of Buffalo.

During the summer, separated by the miles between LA and Buffalo, Abby and Bobby maintained their connection through constant text messages. One day, Abby took the initiative and asked Bobby the defining question, "So, what are we?" This conversation marked the beginning of their journey as an official couple.
