Thomas and I met in our TV production class fall of our sophomore year of college. I remember liking him pretty soon after we met and I told my friends that there was this cute boy in my class that I needed to ask to one of our date parties! So I did... and he said no. Granted it was the night before and he had to work the MSU men's basketball game the night of the party. After that we stayed friends and would say hey when we saw each other, but nothing ever came of it.
In the Spring of our sophomore year, I heard that he was taking a girl from our TV Production class that we had together the previous semester to his fraternity crawfish date party. I still liked him at this point and got a little jealous... so I found myself a date to that date party too! Just to make sure there was nothing going on there :) They were just friends, whew!!! But I remember talking to Thomas more than my date that night and we just cut up and had fun!! (He still wasn't interested yet).
The following semester, fall of our junior year, I got really lucky. Thomas and I had two long classes back to back on Tuesday and Thursday so we would spend from 8a.m.- 12p.m. together each of those days. We really got to know each other during this semester and as my feelings grew deeper, his stayed the same. Friend vibes... I remember telling my roommate at the time that "I do not know if I've met my husband yet and that's okay if I haven't, but out of any man that I know in my life currently, Thomas is the most like the kind of person that I would want to marry."
In November of our junior year towards the end of the semester, Thomas asked me one day if I wanted to go with him to the woman's basketball game because they had an extra ticket in club level! He told me that his grandfather said "you have to ask someone with long hair" and I was the lucky recipient... thanks Tops!!! We ended up having so much fun and talking and laughing the whole time!! It was a blast!! After that night, we kept hanging out pretty much every day. It was finals that week and we had multiple classes together, so we worked on our projects and spent a lot of time together! Then he finally confessed his love for me. HAHA JK, not so soon, but I knew finally that he had come around and developed feelings for me too.
Christmas break came pretty quickly and he told me on the day he was leaving to go home that he didn't want what we had going on to fizzle out over the break. We live 3.5 hours apart and hearing that he wanted to keep pursuing me and this relationship over the break was so reassuring! That December he came to visit me in Birmingham and asked me to be his girlfriend at the Christmas lights walk through at the BHAM Zoo!!! I ended up going to visit his family in Olive Branch over the break as well and the rest is history!!!
This is your sign to never give up hope, because if you luck out like me, they might just turn out to like you back!!!! <3
