Monticello, the former home of Thomas Jefferson is less than five minutes away from the wedding venue! If you do plan to visit over the weekend, we highly recommend reserving tickets ahead of time (especially because it's a UVA home football game weekend). There are two main ticket options: (1) grounds tickets that give you access to walk around the house, walk through the basement of the house, and join any grounds walking tours; (2) in-house tickets that give you access to a guided tour through the house and the grounds/grounds tours.

Carter Mountain is a ten minute drive from the wedding venue and has an amazing 360-view of all of Charlottesville! You can pick apples or pumpkins and get amazing apple cider, apple cider donuts, alcoholic cider or wine slushies! Note, you do need to purchase an $8 ticket at the door to get into Carter Mountain.

This hike has the BEST views! Humpback Rock is a 6 mile out and back trail that takes a few hours to complete! It is a moderately hard hike and is a decently steep climb (so probably not great for children).

This is a great walk/hike that is on a board walk the entire time! The Monticello Trail is also right next to Carter Mountain and Monticello if you were looking to do multiple things in one trip!

If you are looking for a winery, Pippin is a great one! We're also biased because this is where we got engaged. Try to make reservations if you can (reservations are available on Resy), but if not you can still order wine and food and sit on the lawn.

King Family Vineyards is another great winery option with tons of outdoor space and great views! Good news, King Family does not require reservations!

This is a winery owned by Dave Matthews! He has a house in Charlottesville and sometimes he shows up to his vineyard in disguise.

The Charlottesville Downtown Mall has book stores, a children's museum, restaurants, and lots of shops!

Tyler & I have never done this but have seen the balloons early in the morning. If you're feeling adventurous this is always an option!

Meadow Creek has a full 18-hole course and a driving range!

Birdwood has a full 18-hole course, a 9 hole par three, and a driving range!
