Q + A

What is the best day to arrive in Mexico?

To ensure you will not miss the wedding and to allow for travel delays, we suggest arriving in Mexico no later than Friday December 5, 2025. Please note the Welcome Party will be Friday at 5:00-7:00 PM. Our room block is reserved for 3 nights (Friday through Monday). However, please feel free to arrive earlier in the week or to stay longer!

Is there a block of rooms reserved for wedding guests?

Yes! You MUST book your room using our link on the "Travel" page, which provides instructions for booking your room in our group block. You will book your room through our Texas-based wedding planner, Yellow Umbrella, affiliated with the resort. You should not book directly with the resort, as you will receive a better rate by booking in our group block! The link and further details about the resort and booking process can be found on the "Travel" page.

When should I book my room?

Please book your room as soon as you are ready! You do not need to wait to receive your formal invitation/RSVP before booking. Kindly remember that the last day to book your room is June 10, 2025!

Do I need to book my room for a minimum number of nights?

Yes, per resort policy, you must book your room for 3 nights minimum.

What is included in the price of my room?

The room rate includes the cost of your stay at the resort; food; drinks; transportation to/from the Cancún airport; admission to all 6 nature, water, and amusement parks; activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and yoga classes; taxes; and tipping for staff. The only things not included in the price of your room are airfare, spa services, and souvenirs from gift shops.

What is the difference between the Adults-Only rooms and the regular rooms?

We recommend booking your room in the Adults-Only building (Casa Fuego), as this is where the wedding party will be staying. Although it is slightly more expensive, this building offers several perks including exclusive access to 2 adults-only pools (1 rooftop pool), an adults-only restaurant & bar, butler service, an adults-only gym, and private check-in. Most of the rooms in our room block are Adults-Only. However, for those traveling with children under 18 or looking for a more affordable option, we have reserved some rooms in the family-friendly buildings.

What is the resort's cancellation policy?

If you cancel your reservation (or remove guests from the reservation) by June 10, 2025, the responsibility is a $100 per person cancellation fee. Please see our room block link on the "Travel" page for more information on cancellation.

Is transportation from the airport to the resort provided?

Yes! Transportation to and from the airport is included in the price of your room.

How long is the drive from the airport to the resort?

1 hour.

Is it safe for Americans to travel to Playa del Carmen?

Yes. All-inclusive resorts in the Cancún & Playa del Carmen regions are generally safe and are protected by security measures. A record 33.7 million people arrived at the Cancún Airport in 2023, the vast majority being tourists. The US Government issues travel advisories/warnings for all countries around the world. Interestingly, Mexico is one of very few countries that is not categorized on one level, but is instead separately categorized by state. The state of Quintana Roo is Level 2 (exercise caution), as opposed to active cartel states such as Sinaloa, which are Level 4 (do not travel). Some other Level 2 countries include: Bahamas, Sweden, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, Belgium, Turks & Caicos, and Dominican Republic.

What is the attire for guests at the wedding?

Resort casual/cocktail. Please dress comfortably in your favorite resort wear! "Beachy cocktail style" entails comfortable yet classy looks such as free-flowing dresses, tropical prints, linen, and sandals. For women, feel free to wear resort-style dresses, jumpsuits, rompers, or pants. Dresses can be short or long. Sandals or wedges are recommended as the reception will be in the sand. Men should feel free to wear collared shirts with no tie or jacket. Shirts can be short- or long-sleeved. Please keep in mind the wedding ceremony will take place in the Catholic Church.

Are children invited to the wedding?

Unfortunately, children are not invited to the wedding. However, Hotel Xcaret is family-friendly and guests are welcome to travel with kids, provided they are not staying in the Adults-Only building.

What if I have other questions?

Please feel free to contact Abby with any other questions or concerns you might have about the wedding weekend.
