Abby and Dael met on Mother's Day 2022 thanks to a family plot hatched by Abby's siblings, parents, and grandparents. Dael was drumming for a church service attended by Abby's family and after the service ended, Abby was introduced by her grandpa. Although they were just meeting, Abby and Dael saw enough to consider giving each other a chance.

They began their love story and realized they both enjoy getting outside to kayak and hammock; as well as staying in to read, play cards, and cuddle up with a good movie. Despite their different personalities, Abby being extremely extroverted and Dael being very introverted, they have found a balance that helps them both grow.

On the day Dael proposed, they went to the Book Loft (where Abby pointed out every marriage book imaginable lol), got coffee, and walked around Franklin Park Conservatory with his sister, Darby. Dael had scoped the space with his mom and sister the week before and had picked the spot where he would propose. While they were walking, Abby pointed out a tree in full bloom with pink flowers, wanting to get a picture underneath. This happened to be the spot Dael had picked. It was perfect!
