Do I need a passport to attend?
Yes, the Dominican Republic requires a passport to travel. *We recommend applying for one or renewing yours soon-they are very behind due to COVID, and cannot honor expedited passports at the time.
Do I need to be vaccinated or have a negative COVID test before traveling?
The Dominican Republic does not currently require vaccination or a negative COVID test for entry. The United States is still requiring a negative COVID test prior to coming home, and the resort offers free testing for guests staying at least three nights. Check back for the latest updates, as we hope these conditions will improve closer to the wedding.
Are masks required at the resort?
Masks are currently required only in the lobby, restaurants, & gym. *This was not strongly enforced when we visited in May; check back for more updates as we hope these conditions will improve as we get closer to the wedding.
Do I have to stay at the resort where the wedding is taking place?
We encourage everyone attending to stay at the resort, but you are more than welcome to stay elsewhere. *The resort will charge each guest $175 for a day pass to the resort for the ceremony if you are not staying at the resort.
What area of the resort should I stay in?
One of the things we love about Sanctuary Cap Cana is that the resort is not too large. Any room/building will be in close proximity to all areas of the resort.
Is there a room block to book under when reserving my room?
In order to allow our guests freedom of booking any type of room/suite/villa, we do not have a room block for wedding guests.
How far is the Punta Cana airport from the resort?
The resort is a quick 15 minute drive from the airport.
What are the transportation options from the airport to the resort and back?
Truthfully, we have always just hopped in a cab out of the airport. The resort offers arrangements for a shuttle if you call to book once you have your flight arrival time. *It is important to note it can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes to get through customs once landing.*
When should I arrive and depart without missing any wedding festivities?
The bride & groom will have dinner and cocktails the night before the wedding (Thursday, June 9th) with any guests in town that would like to attend. The ceremony & reception will begin on Friday, June 10th at 9:30 am and end at 1:00 pm. The bride & groom will be at the resort starting on Monday, June 6th until Sunday, June 12th when they depart for their honeymoon. Come whenever, and stay as long as you like!
I did not receive a plus one to the wedding, but would like to bring my significant other/friend to travel with; can they attend the wedding?
Due to the location of our ceremony and reception, we can only welcome guests who have received an invitation; however we would love to celebrate with extra friends throughout the duration of the trip at the resort. *Please note the resort is adults only, 18 +
I am not a pool/beach person. Are there other activities at the resort or off site?
We are both pool/beach people so we have truly never done anything off site when visiting this resort; we do know there are many things to explore, and the concierge at the resort can assist in anything off site. The resort offers daily activities near the beach and pool, as well as different shows at night. We think everyone will find something to enjoy during their stay!
Do I need to do a currency exchange before/once I arrive?
Sanctuary Cap Cana is an all inclusive resort, so you will not need much cash other than tipping if you plan to stay on site; however the resort takes U.S. dollars so there is no need to exchange.
