Abby and Mason first met May 5, 2019.

Mason and I met on May 5th, 2019. Mason had finished his first year of college that day. He came to my house with his friend Garret to pick up Garret's girlfriend at the time and get dinner. I, however, had been drinking some margaritas. When my friend left to get into Garret's car, I noticed a boy in the front seat. I immediately forgot and danced away singing "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X. While spinning away I hear the words "I like her." I got a little giddy, knowing that the boy in the car said it. Later, Mason added me on Snapchat, and we started talking. He would show up at my house every day for the next week when Garret and his girlfriend at the time would come over. After that first week, we had our first date at Katie's Ice Cream. Unfortunately, Mason had to leave to work in Nova at the end of the following week. On his last day in Roanoke, he asked if it was a good idea for us to date. We both agreed, probably not because we wouldn't be with each other much for the next five years. But Garret advised Mason: "Would you rather regret dating or not dating?." We then said we'd rather regret dating. So, with meager expectations, we started dating on May 17th, 2019. We made it through those five years and are getting married on January 4th, 2025!
