Chris took Abby to Madcap in downtown GR and she ordered matcha which he just discovered is green! We talked for three hours, and decided we’d do it again!
We were on a hike and decided to tell our parents about the relationship, who then asked for a photo
We went to traverse city together and explored! This was the first time Abby knew she loved Chris!
We went to Fredrick Meijer Gardens a lot when we first started dating. One time we went and walked and talked for a couple hours, then got Taco Bell. In the Taco Bell parking lot, Chris realized he loved Abby!
We couldn’t find an open beach, so we found this one behind a sand dune in desperation! Unfortunately, Abby was recovering from covid at the time, so she was struggling to make it up the hills, but it was a beautiful anniversary with lots of sweet moments
Chris planned a whole fun day to surprise Abby, and even took her back to Madcap, where they had their first date!
When we started dating, we knew Abby was studying abroad, but that didn’t make her flying out any easier.
Our first Christmas was so sweet because we got to exchange gifts privately and with each others families.
We were in Florida with Chris’s family on New Year’s Eve, so we went to the beach to watch fireworks. We talked about our love and our plans with each other. Then Chris faked a proposal (fyi Abby was not mad) and Abby realized that if it had been real, she would have said yes.
We went to see the Grand Rapids ballet perform Romeo and Juliet for our Valentine’s date.
We took a spring break road trip with friends to Tennessee and hiked some really cool mountains!
Abby finished her bachelor’s degree, and Chris was right there to hug and support her!
If you know Abby and Chris, you know that they both really enjoy (or in Chris’s case, passionately love) soccer! So it was so fun to get to go to a US men’s national team game together! (CONCACAF Gold Cup if anyone’s interested)
Abby was pretty sure this was coming, but even though she wasn’t surprised, she was blown away by the spot he proposed at.
What a beautiful spot to get engaged!!!
