Our Story
How it all started
They first met in 2018 during a college retreat. Their only interaction that weekend? She asked him to set her things next to him. It was a small, casual moment, but looking back, it was the spark. The very next day, back at UNK, he sent her a DM asking about her name. That simple DM turned into a conversation… and that conversation never really stopped. What started as one small request at a retreat became the beginnings of their story. Proof that sometimes, the smallest moments change everything.
How it became official
After a couple of months of talking, laughing, and realizing how much they enjoyed each other’s company, they both knew something special was growing between them. But Abel couldn’t resist doing it in his own creative way—he surprised her with a “boyfriend application. and that’s how their official chapter began.
One day, completely out of the blue, he surprised Jacqueline with what he called a “boyfriend application.” At first she thought he was applying to volunteer where she currently worked. “I remember laughing the entire time as I “reviewed” the application, but deep down I already knew my answer.”
The proposal and civil wedding
Two years after they became official, Abel surprised her once again—with the most unexpected and thoughtful proposal in November. Every detail was planned perfectly, and when the moment came, there was no question in either of their minds: a resounding “yes.” Less than a year later, in July 2021, they tied the knot through the court, starting the next chapter of their lives together.
The beautiful surprise
They had been busy saving up and planning for their church ceremony and reception, excited to celebrate their love with family and friends. Life, of course, had its own plans too—a little blessing decided to join them along the way! Their baby arrived in August 2023, bringing them so much joy and love, and while the arrival did shift their timelines a bit, it reminded them that the best things in life are worth the wait. Even with a few plans on hold, their hearts became fuller than ever.
Another little delay
After navigating postpartum life and saving up again for their church wedding, they were blessed with another exciting opportunity: buying their first home together in May 2025! It was a dream come true, but, of course, it also shifted their wedding timeline a bit once more. Even with the delays, every step has been an incredible adventure, and each milestone—big or small—has made their journey together even more meaningful.
We are ready
After all the twists, turns, and unexpected blessings along the way, things have finally started to fall into place. They are now officially ready to celebrate their love with their church ceremony, and they couldn’t be more excited to share this special day with all of their loved ones. It feels like the perfect moment to honor their journey, their family, and the life they have been building together—they can’t wait to make memories that will last a lifetime.
