Henry and Abigail met in October 2017, in Colorado Springs. Henry was a Senior at the United States Air Force Academy and was assigned to become an Intelligence Officer after graduation. Abigail was entering her Junior year of college and had just been accepted into Texas A&M University. She was set to leave for Texas in January of 2018. At the time, both accepted that if anything more than a friendship was pursued, the distance would inevitably lead to the demise of their relationship.
Henry and Abigail remained in touch throughout Abigail's first semester at Texas A&M. Abigail looked forward to Henry being stationed in Texas for training, and Henry looked forward to the SEC Football tickets he could wean off of Abigail. Little did he know, Abigail knew nothing about Football. Legend has it that she still doesn't.
Two attempts were made by Henry to secure Abigail as his "baby girl," both being failed attempts, Abigail took matters into her own hands. Or, as Abigail's father would say, Abigail showed her "true colors." Apparently, Henry was not scared off by this. Henry is most likely rethinking his decision now.
Henry and Abigail's relationship from then on was everything but dull. As other couples do, they had to learn to compromise, forgive when the other didn't deserve it, listen more than talk (Abigail's still working on this one), speak up when it was difficult (Henry's working on this one), and to let the little things go. The most challenging, yet thrilling part of their relationship was navigating the trials of a long distance relationship. Both hard-headed, Henry and Abigail were determined to make the relationship succeed. The distance undoubtedly made their hearts grow fonder of each other. They spent whatever time they could together and cherished every second.
After years of long distance (4 years to be exact), hours and hours of FaceTime calls, numerous long drives, dozens of plane flights, the thousands of dollars it cost to buy the flights, a pandemic, and multiple moves, Henry asked Abigail to be his wife. Henry must have took notes from when Abigail took "matters into her own hands," because his first attempt was successful!
Though the distance made Henry and Abigail's hearts grow fonder for each other, the diamond ring definitely made Abigail much more fond of Henry.
