We did not fully realize it at the time, but our story had been unfolding long before we ever defined it as a relationship. We first met in the summer of 2023 in Lincoln, Nebraska, through my cousin, Elaina. What began as a casual evening out with friends became a memorable introduction. Jack even taught me how to swing dance. Over the following year, we continued to cross paths in group settings, including a Fourth of July gathering in 2024 at my aunt’s lake. At the time, we were simply familiar faces within the same circle, unaware of what the future would hold.

Everything changed in December 2024, when Elaina invited me to Jack’s New Year’s Eve celebration. That evening marked a turning point, as it became clear that our connection had the potential to grow into something more meaningful. We went on our first date the very next day, and before I returned home, we had already made plans for my next visit. Now, over a year later, we look back with gratitude at the many moments that brought us together.
