Our Wedding

Due to limited space on the property, we’re unfortunately not able to accommodate all guests for overnight stays at Bellingham Castle. We truly wish we could host everyone, but we appreciate your understanding and are happy to provide nearby lodging recommendations which can be found in the “Lodging Accommodations” tab. If we have not told you directly that you’ll be staying on-site at Bellingham Castle, we kindly ask that you book your accommodations through our hotel block or one of the other suggested properties. If booking with the hotel block at Gateway Hotel, please ensure you follow the directions provided and book via phone or email, NOT through their website. The information provided below is only applicable to the guests staying on-site at the castle.

Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in time for guests is from 3pm onward on August 10th and access to the grounds will not be granted prior to 2pm on the day. Check-out time is strictly 12pm on August 12th. There will be complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and cake available in the Lounge rooms upon arrival. For guests arriving earlier than 2pm, we recommend a little cafe in the local village of Castlebellingham called “The Mill” if you wish to grab coffee or a bite to eat.

Bedroom Allocation

You do not need to book a reservation through Bellingham Castle, we will allocate all bedrooms. The room rate is €255 per room per night based on two people sharing / €235 per room per night based on one person single occupancy and including breakfast. You will be able to settle your room bill when either checking-in or checking-out.

Accessibility

Due to the historical significance of the property, they are constricted with regards to making all the structural changes required to be totally accessible. There are two accessible bedrooms at Bellingham Castle, please follow up with us directly if you need to be assigned one of these rooms.

The morning of and the morning after our wedding, breakfast will be served in the Oratory &amp; Chapel Lounge from 9am-11am.

Castle Accommodations

Passport - You will need a passport that is valid for at least six months before your travel dates! Please be proactive and ensure that you renew your passport if needed as it could take up to three months to complete the process.

The Gateway Hotel Dundalk is our recommended hotel location with a room block available for August 10 &amp; 11. Rates are inclusive of breakfast and a bus transfer to and from Bellingham Castle. Getting To Bellingham Castle

There are a few ways to get from Dublin to Castle Bellingham: Car: You can take a taxi that you see in the city/airport or use a ride share app to request a taxi. Uber is available in Ireland and will connect you to a taxi. Other available ride-share apps commonly used in Ireland and other parts of Europe are “Freenow” and “Bolt”. Please note that rideshare apps will connect you to taxis, as the use of private vehicles on the apps is outlawed in the country. However, they essentially operate the same as they do in the US. Bus: There is a bus line that travels from Dublin to Castle Bellingham which is a less expensive option. The bus is called Bus Eireann Expressway Route 100X, which begins at Merrion Square in Dublin 2, and ends in Dundalk, a town just north of where the castle is located. There are numerous stops in Dublin on the way to Dundalk, including the airport (Schedule here: https://www.buseireann.ie/routes-and-timetables/100x). Please note you may need cash (Euros) to buy a ticket on the Bus itself. The stop for the Castle is called “CastleBellingham (McBrides Pub)”. Side note: McBrides is a good stop for a Guiness if you have time. From there, the Castle is about a 5-minute walk. Rent a Car: While we would caution against renting a car given the differences in driving (e.g. opposite side of the road) it is an option if you have a US License and Passport. There are several car rental services that can be found online. Please see below for directions and GPS can also be used.

Driving Directions

EIRCODE: A91 RP44 FROM DUBLIN:Take the M1 north. Exit at Junction 15 (Castlebellingham/Tallanstown) and follow the signs for Castlebellingham along Station Road. Continue into the village and turn right onto Main Street (R132). The entrance to Bellingham Castle is further along Main Street on the right beside a large stone entrance tower.

Departures From Bellingham Castle

Upon leaving Castle Bellingham, ride-share services and taxis run less frequently in the area, and as a result it may not be as easy to request and find one quickly, especially if there are many people doing so at the same time. We recommend scheduling a taxi or car service in advance, if possible, to pick you up from the castle and take you to your destination. The bus is also an option to take back to Dublin, although you will likely need to take it north to Dundalk first, before heading back down to Dublin. Castle Bellingham has provided the following contact details for local taxi companies: Sevens - 0429377777 Please note if any guests would like to book a taxi from the castle to the airport, Castle Bellingham's reception staff will be happy to assist in arranging one.

Semi Formal: midi or cocktail dresses &amp; suit or sports coat (ties optional).

Wedding Dress Code

Black Tie Optional: option to wear black-tie attire (floor-length evening gowns and tuxedos) or formal attire (long dresses and suits). Guests are encouraged to dress within the below color palette if they’d like to but not required.

We’re so glad you’re joining us to celebrate our marriage in Ireland! This page is for rehearsal details and any notes for family and friends staying at Bellingham Castle as well as the wedding party. Please arrive promptly at Bellingham Castle on August 10th. Check-in begins at 3pm, access to the castle grounds will not be permitted any earlier. The rehearsal will begin at 4:30pm so we can run through the ceremony; afterward we’ll host the rehearsal dinner onsite. Fade St. is a great area for cocktails and people watching. It has been recommended to us by locals that the South Side of Dublin around Stephen’s Green / St William St / Fade St / Georgie’s Ster and Camden St is where you should prioritize spending time.
