Cam and Abi’s story began in a place of shared faith, where their hearts, unknowingly, were preparing for the same chapter. They met at church, in a group called Grow Band, a place where connections were made over worship, friendship, and growth. At first, it was just about getting to know one another, the conversations were light, and their paths were casual. But for Abi, there was something different about Camden—something that tugged at her heartstrings in ways she hadn’t expected.
Soon enough, their bond deepened, and Abi invited Cam to join her small group. It was a friendship that felt easy, but God had other plans. Before long, feelings began to emerge, and despite her growing interest, Abi felt the need to be patient and allow things to unfold in God’s perfect timing. She told Cam she needed time. “I’m not dating anyone for a year,” she told herself, laughing at the idea. But little did she know, God had His own sense of humor.
Over the next three months, they both took a step back, prayed, and reflected. If you had told Abi she was living in a romantic comedy, she would have wholeheartedly agreed. The late-night phone calls with her best friend, the laughs, the excitement—it was as if life had scripted it all. There was one particular night Abi will never forget: After a small group session, she and Cam were driving home in separate cars. They stayed on the phone, as always, chatting away. And then, at a stoplight, they pulled up side-by-side—cam, one car, Abi, the other—and for a fleeting moment, it felt like the world had narrowed down to just the two of them. Abi remembers feeling like her heart had melted in that instant.
If you asked Camden how he felt that night, he would tell you, “I thought we were the only two people on the road. And I still feel that way to this day. When we’re together, I’m free to be myself.”
Those three months were both a joy and a challenge. They learned so much about each other—about their faith, their passions, and their dreams. They were intentional, choosing to build a strong foundation before diving into a relationship. And when the end of the three months came and Abi’s nerves kicked in, she turned to God. She had this funny little way of asking for signs when she needed direction—she’d ask God for blue birds. She knew it sounded odd, but it was her thing.
That night, she prayed, asking God to reveal if Camden was the one. The answer was undeniable. Suddenly, there were blue birds everywhere—she’d never seen so many! But the most surprising sign came from her friend Ally, who sent Abi a random picture that night. A stuffed blue bird. She was in awe.
And so, the journey continued. As Abi and Camden move forward into the beautiful chapter of marriage, they’re filled with gratitude for how God has shaped their relationship. They are amazed by the way they’ve been blessed as individuals, and even more so as partners in this journey together. Their hearts are full as they prepare to stand before their family and friends, making a covenant before God, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
They can't wait to start their forever, knowing that everything, from the moment they met to this very point, has been part of God’s perfect plan.
