Our Wedding

Alessandro and Abigail met through a mutual friend in January 2023. At first, they only talked when they saw each other in the Dining Hall or when other friends were around. Then, they started to notice that they enjoyed talking to the other person one-on-one. They went from randomly talking on the way to their respective classes to walking each other intentionally to their class. Alessandro asked Abigail for her phone number, and they started to see each other aside from walking to classes. They studied together. Alessandro played the piano for Abigail. They were both very fond of each other's company. After a couple of weeks, Alessandro expressed his feelings towards Abigail and asked her to be his girlfriend. She said yes :)

The Beginning of Our Relationship

The first question people usually ask: Did Abigail know Alessandro was going to propose? The answer is yes, kinda! After months of dating, Alessandro and Abigail decided to make it clear where they expected their relationship to go. They discussed the idea of marriage, but they wanted to make sure that it was God's timing and not their own. They prayed for months over their relationship and that God would help them to see when the right time would be. Eventually, the Lord provided peace over the situation. In March of 2024, Alessandro told Abigail that he was going to propose "soon." Abigail had no idea what Alessandro's idea of "soon" was. Alessandro did not give any more clues, but he did start discussing with Abigail their monthly date. You see, Abigail and Alessandro go on a date once a month and just spend time together, eat food, and enjoy some memories. For their March monthly date, Alessandro told Abigail they could go to the beach (which she had been asking for), get sushi (which she had been asking for), and go to Cupa Manna for coffee and breakfast (which surprised her). After realizing that Alessandro was taking her to do all of her favorite things, Abigail got a little suspicious. On March 29, 2024, Alessandro took Abigail to all of her favorite things. Abigail was sure he was going to propose that day, but he didn't propose at any of the locations. Alessandro took Abigail back to Charleston Southern University's campus. He walked with her behind the field house to a pond with a large tree beside it. Alessandro quoted Psalm 1, "That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither." Alessandro told Abigail that he desired for their relationship to be like the tree planted by streams of water (pointing to the tree and the pond). He wanted their relationship to yield fruit (honor God in every season) and desired that the Lord would watch over their way. On that note, he got down on one knee and asked Abigail to marry him. She said yes :)

Folly Beach is one of our favorite places to go. It has the pier that overlooks the water and plenty of restaurants and shops for you to look at! Parking: If you do not want to park in someone's yard on the street, you will have to pay for parking. The parking right by the public entrance isn't too bad!

Cypress Gardens is one of Abigail's favorite places she has been in Charleston! Entry is only $10 per person, and you can do so much while you are there. This place is known for being featured in the movie The Notebook. You can choose to do a self-guided swamp boat ride or a guided one (for $5 more a person).

Tavern and Table is a great restaurant that overlooks Shem Creek in Charleston! Enjoy some seafood while peering out at the waterfront property! $$

The downtown market is a great place to shop for just about anything! They have lots of trinkets and many restaurants nearby!

If you are a history lover, this might be your favorite thing to do! Talk about a blast to the past! You can walk through these sites and think of the rich history of South Carolina and the United States!

Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park

All the biscuits that you can imagine! $$

This park is found under the famous Ravenel Bride of Charleston! Enjoy the shade, take a long walk, and relax as you breathe in the Charleston Harbor.

Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park

A fun afternoon might include visiting Charleston Southern University (where Abigail and Alessandro fell in love) and going next door to Wannamaker Park! Wannamaker Park is a great area to get some steps in! They have bike, boat rentals, a sand volleyball court, and plenty of walking trails for you to enjoy! There is a $2 fee per person for entrance.

North Charleston Wannamaker County Park

This restaurant is named after a sweet dog who used to roam Queen Street! They have southern cuisine and great reviews! $$

This trail runs around the Wando River for 1.5 miles!

This is such a fun area to explore! You can even stop in Abigail's favorite study spot- Cuppa Manna!
