Our Love Story

Picture of Our Love Story

Caleb and I both attended Cedarville University together, where we met in a general education class, Cultural Anthropology. I remember noticing Caleb on the very first day of that class and my impression of him was that he looked quiet and mischievous, but I was curious about him. Caleb said that he noticed me on that first day of class, too, and would try to catch my eye sometimes because he thought I was pretty and fun looking, but we were both shy and mostly resorted to sneaking glances at each other for the first month of that semester. We like to fight over who made the first move, because I would occasionally follow behind him after class in hopes of getting to talk to him, but it was Caleb who finally "made the big move" and followed me on social media, along with a couple of his friends. Once I added Caleb back, we started messaging a little and decided that, naturally, we should study for our first Anthropology exam together. That was kind of the kickstart to our dating relationship! We spent so much time together after that, dinners, and study sessions, and going to the gym and late night McDonalds outings. Caleb was someone I quickly felt comfortable around, and I guess he liked me enough to stick around for the almost 3 years before he eventually proposed! If you haven't heard our engagement story yet, I feel the need to brag on Caleb a little because he did such a beautiful job proposing to me in such an unforgettable way. When marriage became the topic, I expressed (very often and repeatedly) that my dream was to get engaged on a boat. Every time I brought it up (As much as I love Caleb, he doesn't always remember things like that) Caleb would say "I will not propose to you on a boat since you bring it up so often, because it won't be a surprise anymore!" and obviously I would get all huffy and upset since that was my DREAM. Well fast forward to September 27th, a few days before my birthday, and Caleb has a whole date that he says is a surprise. I of course had my suspicions, but I could never be too sure with Caleb, so I tried my best to not get my hopes up too much that that might be the day he pops the question. He drove me to Cincinnati, and when we crossed the bridge over the Ohio river I looked down and saw the ferry boats paddling around and of course, had to point them out to Caleb and tell him "how cute!". We did end up getting on a Ferry Boat, which almost made me cry because of how excited I was that I actually was going to ride on a ferry! And that is where Caleb proposed. He deserves all the credit in the world for planning such a beautiful proposal, complete with our own champagne toast, a buffet dinner, and live music while on the ferry. Caleb even remembered to ask the staff to put a bouquet of flowers on our table! It was a memory I will never soon forget. All these months later, it brings a huge smile on my face to think about how nervous Caleb was to ask me to marry him, because I would only ever had said YES! I would say yes in every lifetime. Caleb I love you!

Thank you for celebrating us as Caleb and I come together in marriage. We are so happy to share this special time in our lives with you!
