We met at a small school called PCA and I thought he was the cutest thing alive! So I would flirt with him and try to get his attention and it worked! ☺️ We started talking and we both fell in love but we were too young to really date. So we were “taken” -lol-and then... he left the school and we kinda fell apart. We didn’t see each other for years.But, we got back into contact and we talked and went on a few dates. Then he told me, “I don’t think this will work. We have been friends for so long and friends stick together.” So, what does a girl do when she gets a friend-zone? She cries... and that’s what I did!Then he called me one day and said, “I never meant 'never.' I just meant not right now.” So I was on cloud 9 again!! We started dating shortly after that 🥰and now I am marrying my best friend. We plan to live happily ever after.

Abbey’s existence in our family is a miracle from God. So many things fell into place, so clearly meant to be, that I have to tell her story. After six years of infertility, David and I finally had Emily. We were so grateful and content, and had pretty much decided that Emily would be our only child. But God didn't agree. One day a guest came to our church small group and shared about starting an adoption ministry. He invited anyone who was currently, or might ever be, interested in adoption to come to an informational meeting. We weren’t seriously considering it, but we already had babysitting arranged for that night, so we decided to go. The meeting was filled with people sharing their adoption stories, and by the end of the night, we were both moved. We left thinking, "Maybe someday." That night, neither of us could sleep. The next morning, we looked at each other and admitted that we were feeling the same thing: a strong, clear calling to adopt. Not someday. Now. We chose Russia for a variety of reasons, but ultimately, it became clear that this was where God was leading us. Once we started the adoption process, there was a lot of red tape involved, with oh so much paperwork. When you're dealing with not one, but two sets of government agencies, you can only imagine. Months were spent collecting documents, notarizing papers, and sending dossiers to multiple adoption agencies. It was overwhelming at times, but we kept going, trusting that the child God had for us was on the other side of it all. Eventually, we received the referral of a sweet 10-month-old girl from a rural town in the southern Ural mountain range. She had big blue eyes and a whole face full of expression, life, and joy. Then we saw her birthdate, and it became extremely clear that this beautiful child was always meant to be our daughter. Her birthday was the very night we couldn’t sleep. The night we both felt that unmistakable calling to adopt. God knew. He knew that night a woman in Russia was giving birth to our daughter. Long before we saw her face or knew her name, He was already writing her into our story. Abbey was divinely chosen for our family. And every day since, she has been a living reminder of God’s perfect timing, faithfulness, and love. Abbey has always been expressive and full of joy. Her laughter, her energy, and her big heart have been lighting up our home since the day she arrived. She’s always been a tiny little thing, but her love for people fills every room she walks into. Her little body has always burned bright with affection, compassion, and pure enthusiasm for life. We’ve been so blessed to be her family. Now, as Abbey steps into this new season, we see God’s goodness all over again. Kyle isn’t just receiving Abbey’s hand in marriage. He’s receiving the gift that God placed in our hearts so many years ago. She is beautiful inside and out, and we have no doubt that she’ll extend that same joy, love, and light into the Hutchins family that she’s always brought to ours. Getting to know Kyle has been a blessing. He is quiet and thoughtful, steady and sincere. He works hard, loves deeply, and is grounded in his faith. It has been such a joy to watch the way he cares for Abbey, encourages her, and brings out the best in her. We are so thankful she has found someone who not only loves her, but shares the same values that have shaped her life.

Abbey's Story

I have known abbey since we were 13 years old. We became friends because she went to the same school my brother and sister did and we met through an event there. Abbey is the type of person that lit up a room and would immediately come and introduce herself and say let’s be friends! Lucky me I was in need of a good friend! She is also the most loyal friend you will ever find! She has your back 100% of the time.  I was drawn to her because she brought the energy everyday! Abbey is so upbeat and outgoing just like me lol! We were the type of friends who did everything together from birthday sleepovers, shopping, hair & makeup. We went through a rough patch as friends for a while and didn’t talk much for over a year. But here we are friends again to this day and I’m so glad to have her in my life! I could have never picked a more perfect match for my brother and now my sister in law! Welcome to our crazy family I know you can handle it!!!😉

Abbey was adopted from Russia when I was 3 years old. I remember wanting a sister really badly. She was our little Christmas miracle as she was finally brought home on Christmas Eve. I took my big sister role very seriously and bossed her around. She is the best sister I could ever ask for even if she is not blood related. I’m super excited for abbey and this new chapter in her life!

Hey y’all I’m Sarah, Abbey’s Cousin from Oklahoma! We became close when we were younger and I’m very honored to have grown along side her even tho it was mostly lotttss of FaceTime calls.🤪Super excited for her and Kyle during this new chapter! 🫶

Sarah Southerland 

I met Abbey twelve years ago. I was just a nervous little kid and Abbey was the funniest girl I’d ever met. She welcomed me with open arms and we immediately clicked. It didn’t matter that she was older than me or that we didn’t know each other very well, she treated me as though we had known each other forever. Even years later, now, we can laugh about things that seem like a lifetime ago. Friendship with her is timeless and there is always a new joke, a new adventure and, endless fun. I know that Abbey and Kyle are going to have all of those moments and more. I could not be happier for them. Congratulations Abbey and Kyle!

I met abbey through my boyfriend, Josh, who is one of kyle’s best friends. Josh asked if i wanted to watch a movie with kyle and his girlfriend so I ended up going to their house and hanging out with them for a while. i remember josh told me to not be so shy with abbey and abbey told me later that kyle told her not to scare me off. but it was really funny, and i absolutely loved abbeys energy. She’s really someone who can instantly light up a room and make you laugh. 

Chayil Droblyn

I met Abbey through church. We hated each other and did not talk much until one church camp where we were roomed together. Overnight we clicked and she has been my best friend since. We have been there for each other through so many big, good, bad, and scary experiences. I had Abbey over one day and we planned for me to leave my AirPods in her car so I could meet her man. Sure enough Kyle went to her house and they had to come to my place to return them. She’d told me about him for months and always said how it was different with this one. I love her so much.

Ella Wagnon

I met abbey in 7th grade and we did not like each other at all. So we used to give each other a hard time in school and be kinda mean to each other. After a while of that going on, she randomly invited me and my sister over to her house one weekend. We ended up having such a good time playing hide and seek, doing hair and makeup, doing little photo shoots, watching movies, and jumping on her trampoline! We ended up begging our parents for a sleepover that night so we could hang out longer! Ever since that night we’ve been best friends since and have just grown closer to each other! We went to each other’s family events and took turns staying the night at each other’s houses every week! We ended up being basically sisters to each other, we did everything tg! I also met Kyle in middle school, he and my brother were friends.
