We didn't meet in college like everyone thinks we did! Kurt and I met at our good friends' Kelly and Pat's engagement party in 2015. I almost didn't go because there was a horrible rainstorm. He almost didn't go because it was his dad's birthday celebration that evening. Luckily, we both decided it was worth the trip to Toby Keith's bar!

Many know that we weren't always on the same page when it came to dating. Much to Abby's dismay, we spent the first year of our relationship as "just friends" while we navigated moving out of our parents' houses, living in Chicago, and starting our careers. But everything changed when we both went on big trips separately (Kurt went backpacking in Alaska, and Abby went backpacking in Europe). When we returned home, everything started falling into place.

In March 2019, we decided we'd had enough of commuting back and forth from Abby's apartment in Lincoln Park, and Kurt's apartment in Lakeview. We bought our adorable 1928 brick bungalow and moved in together! We spent the first year in our house discovering our inner Chip and Joanna Gaines while we checked house projects off our list and fell in love with our vibrant community!

Then COVID hit, and so many plans came to a screeching halt. During our time in quarantine we continued working on house projects, in the garden, and discovered our mutual love for National Parks. We have visited 4 National Parks since we started quarantine, and we never plan to stop looking for our next great adventure!
