The dates before the first date

Abby and Saud first met at a friend's going away party on a Thursday night. They only talked a little. Abby went home and used her stalker skills to find him on Facebook. She realized his birthday was just a few days before. Wishing him a belated happy birthday was the perfect excuse to start a conversation. According to Saud it was a pretty lame excuse but he is happy she did anyway. They messaged for a while before Saud suggested that Abby go to volleyball on Saturday night. Being the uncoordinated mess that Abby is, she agreed to watch but not play. Other friends played so it didn't seem weird to watch them. After volleyball, a group of them ordered food. Saud asked Abby if she was free that week for a date. Abby agreed to go on a date on Tuesday night with him. Abby is really good at coming up with weird reasons to talk. On Sunday, Abby messaged Saud and asked if he could use his height to help change the lightbulbs. On Monday, Abby offered him homemade peanut butter cups (which he later admitted to only pretending to like them). By the time it was Tuesday and their "first date," they were pretty sure they were going to like each other :)

Engaged!

Picture of Engaged!

During the summer of 2015, Saud and Abby had an amazing date on Mackinac Island, Michigan. It was so much fun, that Saud really wanted to go back when they were in Northern Michigan again in 2017. Saud was VERY adamant about visiting the island. Abby agreed because she also loves that place. They spent the morning walking around and stopping in shops before going to lunch at The Chuckwagon. Saud secretly bought something in one of the shops. After lunch, Saud was being very indecisive (which is not like him) and letting Abby choose where to walk. They walked to the Grand Hotel Garden where there was a path through the woods. Saud saw a bench and suggested they take a selfie there. Selfies are one of Saud's favorite things if you can't tell by the photo album. Abby thought this was a little strange because the background of this selfie would be a wall of trees. She agreed anyway. When they sat down, Saud handed her a package. The package contained a wooden heart ornament (bought that day) that said "Engaged on Mackinac." Saud then got down on one knee and asked Abby to marry him. They did end up taking the selfie and Abby admits it was a pretty great one (it is above). They spend the rest of the afternoon walking around the island with constant smiles. After leaving the island, they went out to the campsite where they were camping with Abby's mom and dad. They celebrated and called brothers and sisters.
