Michael moved to Kent in July of 2022. Arriving at the Newman Center for daily Mass, he saw Abby a few pews in front of him and thought "No one that attractive is a nice person!"

A few weeks later Abby saw Michael from the choir loft and thought "Who's this guy that's all dressed up for mass? He's kinda cute!"

Abby and Michael managed to hold a whole conversation, starting with Abby's ballroom dance class and moving on to taste in music, traveling, and shared hobbies. They made a plan (a few months in advance) to go English Contra dancing with some friends, and never stopped talking after that!

... so she took a chance and invited Michael to check out Saint Peter of the Fields, a rural church out in the middle of nowhere near Kent. They went, and afterward, Michael asked her out on their first date!

In the months that followed, Abby and Michael spent a lot of time getting to know each other and grew in appreciation for each other's faith and personality. They made their relationship official on December 5, right before winter break!

... they were able to create an eight-hour playlist and tackle the Midwest on a 2,000+ mile road trip to visit family! There have been many road trips and adventures since, each one better than the last!

After a lot of prayer and discernment, they both realized that this was so good that they never wanted it to end.

... and there, after mass and in front of a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Michael got down on one knee and asked Abby to marry him! There was a joyful yes, lots of smiles, and the rest is history!!
