Our Story

Our Story (Abbie's Version)

Oh, where to begin.

It was late August 2023, and I was lying in bed when my phone dinged. I check my notification to see that a man named Brad Dalke had messaged me on Instagram. His message read and I quote, "I hope me messaging you on here isn't too weird. I just wanna say I think you are super pretty, and I would love to take you out sometime".

Flash back six months prior, Brad had seen me on a dating app and saw me pictured with his childhood friend. He reached out to her asking who I was. After she spoke highly of me to him (shoutout to Sarah), nothing happened. Brad was still living in Oklahoma at the time and wanted to reach out to me when he was settled into Dallas.

Fast forward six months, Brad had moved to Dallas to join Good Good full time. He didn't waste one second to message me and ask me out. The rest is history.

Our first date involved a delicious meal at a fancy restaurant called Texas Roadhouse. You just can't beat their rolls and cinnamon butter. After our meal, we went to the movies to see Blue Beetle, a DC comic book movie. We weren't too impressed by the movie as we are both Marvel fans, but that's okay. The date was beyond perfect.

From that point on, we both knew we wanted to date each other. Brad and I shared so much in common; we just couldn't believe it. It was as if we shared the same 'wavelength', if you will.

Brad was so eager to convert me into an OU fan that he took me to my first OU vs. Texas game at the Cotton Bowl. To say I had the best time is an understatement. I loved seeing the excitement Brad exuded as OU made their way to a victory against Texas. It was such a close game, and when OU won, I jumped into Brad's arms and kissed him. I was so excited! It was such a joyful and exciting moment.

Not shortly after, Brad told me he loved me for the first time, and I immediately said it back. From that point on, we met each other's families and spent every minute we could with each other. Our love only grew stronger and stronger.

As we began to talk about our future, we both found it important to focus on our relationship with Jesus as individuals and as a couple. Brad pushes and challenges me to be a faithful follower of Christ, and I am forever grateful. I know in my heart that God placed Brad into my life to love me unconditionally and to guide me through strengthening my relationship with Christ.

To simply put it y'all, Brad is my rock. He always will be. For the rest of my life. I am so excited to marry this man!

Thank you for reading!

Our Story (Brad’s Version)

Well this story is a very modern dating story nowadays! There was a mutual friend that we both had and I had seen Abbie in a few pictures with her. Abbie caught my attention immediately because of how gorgeous she was so I contacted our friend about her and she said that she can introduce us at some point soon! Fast forward 6 months later and that never came to fruition so I decided to take matters into my own hands and sent Abbie a message on Instagram. I did not think she would reply at all if I’m going to be honest but she finally did and boy am I glad she didn’t leave me on read!

We texted back and forth for a little while and then finally met in person once I moved to Dallas. We went on a date to Texas Roadhouse (I only ate one roll that night instead of the usual 5-6) and then saw Blue Beetle at a movie theater nearby. It was the best date I’ve ever been on by far. I was so nervous going into it but as soon as I was with her, it’s like all those nerves went away because it was so easy. To me, it almost felt like two puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together. Nothing felt forced or awkward, it just felt right.

From that night on, we kept going on dates and kept being around each other when I was in town. Everything just felt right from the get go and we actually started officially dating about a month after we had met. I just knew she was the girl for me from the get go!

One of my favorite stories is the OU-Texas game in October of 2023. We had just started dating officially that week and I wanted to take an Aggie to experience some Sooner football. She wore the prettiest crimson sun dress and we had the most fun time. When OU scored to take the lead in the final 10 seconds of the game, she jumped into my arms with excitement and that is a moment I’ll remember forever and it might be the exact moment that I knew that there might be a real future with this girl. She could get excited about football and she could handle me when I was stressing out of my mind about the Sooners!

I am so excited to marry Abigail Ohanna and officially make her a Dalke. She is the most patient, caring, and beautiful woman in the world and I couldn’t imagine doing life without her ever again. I love her family and I know my family loves her. She is the best part about me now and I can’t wait to celebrate with her in Mexico in June.

I love you Abbs ❤️
