We are your classic high school sweethearts. We knew of each other for years beforehand, but officially "met" in the summer of 2017. On our youth group trip to Colorado, we rode in the same van. After switching up seats at one of our stops, we sat in the same row. At the start it was very awkward and weird, by the end we were both bummed that the drive was over. Flash forward a few months, and we officially started dating February 2018.

In 2018, Abby was only a senior at SHS and Joey was starting his first year at ISU. We both decided that distance was not ideal, so Abby might've been a little influenced to apply and attend ISU the following fall. We both knew that we wanted to be together all the time, so it seemed like a perfect idea!

Throughout college, our relationship continued to grow and grow. As we got closer to graduation, we really began planning what we wanted our lives to look like. It was never a question of "if we'd get married" it was just a matter of when.

December 2023 we spent the day in Omaha when Joey proposed. We found a snowy trail to explore when Joey asked Abby to marry him. The whole car ride home back to Spencer we talked about the wedding and officially starting our lives together.
