Some may not know that Matt & I actually met back in 2016. I walked into the bar that he was working at and instantly had an attraction to him. Little did I know he slipped his business card into my purse while I used the restroom. About a month later, I found the card (how many women go through their whole purse often??). I decided to text him and see where things could go. That is not how we got here! Things didn't work out at the time so we both moved on.
About 3 years later, Matt reached out and asked if I would be interested in "meeting up for a beer". Once I said yes, he said "it's a date" (he wanted to make sure I knew it wasn't just as friends). That second first date was more than either of us expected and the rest is history! It was also the first time I ever tried Malort (GROSS).
*The photo above is our very first photo we took together*
It's no secret how ready I was for Matt to pop the question! The saying, "when you know, you know" was something we both felt from that second first date. Fast forward to June 10, 2022, it was the last day of our family vacation. The weather was not cooperating, but Matt insisted we try and squeeze in our daily walk since it was the last day. We both wore our hats, not realizing just how bad the wind was picking up. We began walking and half of the sky was beautiful, while the other half was very very dark. As we kept walking, I couldn't help but look up and say to Matt we should really turn around. He was completely silent, so I asked what any overthinking woman would ask, "Are you breaking up with me?" Family trips can be stressful! He said of course not, and we continued walking in silence. I finally got him to stop walking and consider turning around, but he still lingered! He began to say something about how this place is his favorite and some other things. We both somewhat blacked out in the moment. He pulls out the ring and asks the Big Question, of course I said yes. He then gave me the ring (not on my finger) and proceeded to chase his hat and cup that the wind and ocean tried to consume while he was down on one knee. It was quite the event, but something we will both remember (and laugh about) forever.
