It all started on August 17th, 2023, with a message that disappeared as quickly as it came. He sent a cryptic message, then deleted it, leaving me curious and, let's be honest, a little nosy. Innocently, I asked him what he had deleted, and instead of an answer, he told me not to worry. That was the beginning of what would become an adventure I never saw coming.
We introduced ourselves, and he kept checking in on me like a diligent guardian angel. He even schemed with my friend who lived in the same building to invite me over to her room—turns out, he was just looking for reasons to bump into me! And then came the moment I couldn’t forget: October 1st, a quiet Sunday. I stumbled upon a picture of him in traditional attire, looking... so fine. Let’s just say I stared at that photo a healthy number of times.
From that moment on, we got closer. I became his unofficial life manager—helping him shop, managing his finances, praying for him, and sharing endless gists. At one point, I even jokingly asked if I could be his personal assistant because I was practically running his life anyway. He agreed, and I started earning a whooping $15 per month for my services…lol!!!
He would randomly buy me things every now and then, and life was good... until it wasn’t.
One day, he suddenly began to pull away. In his defense, he had asked me out three times already, and each time, I had politely turned him down. Now, how could I explain that it wasn’t a rejection, I just wasn’t ready back then? But he was done, he said, and that he wasn’t interested anymore. I cried to everyone with ears, sharing my sob story far and wide.
And just when I thought my story would end there, a miracle happened! They say even the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, and so he did for me. You can call me Zion! Just as I had finally convinced myself to move on, he showed up at my apartment—right on the night I had decided to let go—and asked me out again.
This time, I didn't hesitate. I said "yes" faster than he could blink because I knew what I had been through. And just like that, a story that started with a deleted message turned into a love story worth telling... and retelling.
