In 2023, Gemma started a job at Creighton School of Dentistry. She was working in radiology as dental assistant, helping dental students take x rays and approving them. Meanwhile, Adam was just starting to navigate seeing patients in the dental clinic. Gemma and Adam had their first conversation in the fall of 2023 about pickleball. They talked about their weekends and how they both had played pickleball with their friends. The conversation quickly ended, as Adam's patient insisted on using the bathroom.

Not too long after that conversation, Alexandra Savaglio, another dental student, was feeling inspired to play match maker for her dear friend Adam. She knew Adam had been looking for a bright, young, beautiful woman. Alexandra approached Gemma in the middle of clinic to pry about her love life. It soon came to the surface that Gemma was also single, and looking for a handsome man to giggle through her days with. Without knowing who the man was, Gemma agreed for Alexandra to give her number away. A couple days later, Gemma got a text from Adam. Their first date was pickleball, how fitting.

Adam knew at that date that he wanted to see Gemma again...who wouldn't? Was he attracted to her pickleball skills? Her humor? Her competitiveness? Who is to say...

They then went on another date to Mula, both still too nervous to order a margarita or chips and queso. Coneflower followed, and then a walk around the riverfront. From there, they were inseparable, but keeping it quiet from other's at the dental school. A couple months later, they made their debut at dental prom, and from there continued to blow minds. At last, a perfect dental love story that began with radiology and a 2 minute conversation about pickleball. And of course the guiding hand of God and persistence of Alexandra.
