Two Tax Accountants Walk into a Training.....

Hi there! Peyton here. You know the joke, two guys walk into a bar, the third one ducks! Well, in our case, it was two accountants walk into a training. Yep, you read that right. For those of you that don't know, my wonderful fiance and I met at work. At a training of all place!

I started with my firm in August of 2021 and heard all about this "Adam" guy, but had never seen him, since he was working remotely at the time. I just assumed he was some really nice, really smart guy that I would never meet given how everyone talked about how wonderful he was, but also said they hadn't seen his face since March of 2020. That all changed in late August, 2021 when our office had a software training with the promise of free lunch that lured Adam in. At that time, we were all still masked up, so all I remember is sitting down and seeing the most beautiful set of icy blue eyes across the room from me that I had never seen before (and I knew everyone else there). So, by process of elimination, this had to be the elusive "Adam" character that everyone was talking about. Come lunchtime, those blue eyes decided to ride in my car along with another friend, and somehow on the way back our friend rode in a different car and it left just me and Adam to fill a 15 minute car ride back to the office. And anyone who knows me, knows I can TALK. So that I did..... and we talked about so many different things and those eyes and that smile captivated me. But even more, I was enamored with his kind, calm, collected, and compassionate persona. I left training that day saying "well, I hope to see you in the office more often now," and sure enough, that's what happened.

Whether it was my relentless "teams-ing" (instant messaging app at work) of him, or his genuine interest in me, he asked me out to lunch one day after a big deadline outside of work, and I was over the moon! I knew he was something special from the first time I met him, and our 3 hour lunch at Chuy's confirmed that.

Then, things just kind of continued to progress. We had several concerts and hikes planned right off the bat, which meant we were spending a LOT of time together, and I didn't take it easy on him either. I hit him with the hard questions and didn't hold anything back. He checked all the boxes, passed all the "tests," and I thought he was honestly too good to be true. But a month or so later, we made it official over a game of scrabble that we wanted to do the whole "boyfriend/girlfriend" thing.

From there, we planned all kinds of trips, concerts, fun date nights, and everything in between. I met his friends and family and instantly knew that by having that group of people around him, he had to be as good as I thought he was! Our relationship has been full of so much fun and adventure, and we both know that our life will continue to be built on fun and adventure!

We both started talking about marriage probably 8 months into dating because we both knew exactly what we wanted. It was each other. I never thought I would be so lucky to find someone so perfect for me, but I truly believe Adam was put on this earth to be my partner to walk through life with - all the good, all the bad, I want to face it with him. So for me, when I had that realization, that was it. Especially when everything else in my life was new and uncertain and somewhat chaotic, I knew that God put me in the exact right place at the exact right time to meet the exact right man for me.

Check out our photos to see all of our adventures and just a glimpse into the wonderful journey we have had together that is just beginning! What a better way to solidify that we wanted to spend our lives together than on a trip!

Adam and I had planned a Florida trip at the end of November that involved a lot of camping, seeing national parks, and my personal favorite, Disney World. All of my friends asked me if I thought he was going to propose, and I had talked myself out of thinking that he would simply because of the close proximity we would be staying in and how nervous I thought it would make him. Well, he hid it so very well and on November 30th, 2022 in Bahai Honda state park in Florida, Adam asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. That was the easiest decision I have ever made, and every day I am thankful I get to journey through the rest of my life with this amazing man by my side.
