Our Wedding

It started at the park. One of us would walk through the woods, stopping and smelling the aromatic pines and low shrubs that were left over in Autumn. The other would tromp through puddles and step over pieces of sidewalk that were lifted from the city trees trying to escape their confinement. Once at the park, the rest of the world would melt away. What happened on those wood chips is all that mattered. At first, one of us was more interested in playing fetch, while the other just liked smelling things around the park. Little by litte, we started to notice each other, and realized there's more to life than fetch and smelling. In all seriousness, it did start at Wallace Dog Park, and the above is how we like to imagine our story from our babies' point of view! We would see eachother from time to time at the dog park, and whenever we did, it was the highlight of our day. Conversations led to casual walks where we would share stories where you (yes, you reading this) may have been a main character, or at least a supporting role. We connected on experiences of similiar upbringings and values, like wearing too much eye liner and how great pop punk and emo music was in the 2000's. He was a skater boy, and she did not say, "see ya later boy". There was a familiarity about one another. When we met, it was like we already knew each other. We were comfortable. It's where we were always supposed to be, with who we were supposed to be with. We are grateful every day for the gift of each other, our families (which includes friends), our dogs, and this life we get to share together. Thank you for being a part of this journey, and sharing this life with us!

Honeymoon has yet to be decided but we are highly interested in taking our trailer on a road trip with the dogs down the west coast and through the Four Corners area for camping, fishing, and mule packing. Another option would be France &amp; Spain with part of that trip being on an all inclusive guided horseback tour. Homestead projects would include getting a small herd of goats and sheep for milking, update and expand our chicken coop, get some ducks, continue mushroom production, have a good mix of native and edible plants, build a cob pizza oven, and put in a sauna!

Airbnb is a great alternative to Timberline Lodge especially if you're staying with 4 or more guests. We recommend searching in Government Camp, OR, which is about 15-20 minutes from Timberline Lodge.

If you're coming in early, and have a group of 4+, we recommend staying at an Airbnb in Portland. Portland is split into a quadrant. Burnside Street splits the city between north and south, and the Willamette River splits the city between east and west. It's also made up of a bunch of smaller neighborhoods. If you're looking for a neighborhood that will be within walking distance to cafes, restaurants, bars, and the close-ish to the city center, we recommend staying: On the East side (east of the river) - West of 39th Ave - North of Powell Blvd - South of Killingsworth - East of MLK Blvd On the West side - West of 17th Ave - North of Glisan St (a few blocks north of Burnside) - South of Vaughn St - East of 26th Ave

Accommodations in Portland

We suggest getting a car that's good to drive in snow! There will be snow at the venue! You can also take a shuttle from multiple places up to Timberline Lodge (on the Mount Hood Express): https://www.mthoodexpress.com/ There's different park and rides you can utilize. If you're going to take the Mount Hood Express, you'll need to stay at Timberline Lodge since the shuttle stops running at 7:45pm (at least as of writing this), and the wedding will go until 9pm.
