It was a sunny Saturday morning, the first day of June 2019. I opened the door at Steaming Cup and took a deep breath. After sending a quick text, I heard the bell ringing as someone opened the door, "That makes two of us." I turned around and looked up at the most handsome man I had ever seen. "Hello."
We spent the next four hours talking over warm mugs of black coffee. I realized that Adam was different than anyone I had ever met. Our conversation flowed so easily, we laughed, smiled, and by the end of the date had arranged to meet up again that Thursday for Jazz in the Park.
We spent the next 23 days getting to know one another, and then I had to spend the next 15 days in Indonesia for work. But those days quickly flew by with phone calls, letters, and text messages.
By the time I returned, we knew we had something special—we had found our forever person.
We spent the rest of the summer exploring Milwaukee, sailing, hiking, and going to jazz in the park. Fall came and we traveled up to Door County for the weekend. Winter saw holidays packed with family gatherings, and good food.
Then 2020 came. But with God's grace we managed to make the most of it. We hiked at state parks, had picnics, watched movies, and celebrated the small things in life like candles and good books.
And in August 2020, Adam gave us another thing to celebrate. On the bridge at Lakeshore State Park in Milwaukee, with a coffee mug in hand, Adam proposed.
We are very excited to be celebrating our wedding with friends and family this fall. We know this past year has been full of struggle, so we hope our wedding will be a time for you to enjoy good friends, time with family, tasty food, fun dancing, and more.
