***Wedding CANCELLATION***

Dear Family and Friends,

We hope you had a beautiful Christmas! We were so looking forward to seeing many of you later this week in Chicago – not only to celebrate, finally, our long-delayed wedding, but to ring in a New Year, one which we all hope will be brighter and kinder than the last two.

Very sadly, it seems that this celebration is just not in the cards for us. In the last days we’ve received some bombshells which made it clear that it would not be possible for us to go forward as we planned. In addition to many participants of the church ceremony testing positive for Covid, we have all been reading the news of thousands upon thousands of cancelled flights across the nation – a situation which doesn’t appear to be improving. Coupled with the surging of the Omicron variant, it seems that the proverbial writing is on the wall, and we are faced, contractually, with no alternative but total cancellation with our vendors.

Though intensely disappointed to be at this crossroads yet again, and heartbroken to have come so painfully close this second time, we have decided that we will not reschedule this celebration.

We had put so much thought into what should have been the most meaningful demonstration and expression of our love for each other – a ceremony at the core of which are the beautiful words and song that lay at the core of our relationship. Such ephemeral moments of beauty are those for which we spend our lives hoping to create, and we regret that we cannot offer you that little gift from us. Attached you will find the “Order of Service” which outlines the entire ceremony as it was planned to unfold. We have played through it many times in our imaginations, and if you feel so inclined, you can find wonderful recordings of these touching works of music on YouTube or Spotify, but we will share just one with you here in which many cherished friends who would have been present on Saturday are featured:

We so wished that our family and friends could have gathered afterwards, put faces to names, and socialize in this special architectural ambience of the Rookery.
