I (Katy) was sitting on my couch watching soccer one Saturday night this past April when I received a text from a dear coworker saying, "I don't know why I haven't thought of this sooner, but I know this guy who loves Jesus and loves baseball. What do you think?" I probably spent all of forty five seconds considering it before I thought, "What the heck? Why not?"
That same coworker had apparently sent Adam a very similarly worded text that same night and then my number was sent to Adam. All of thirty minutes later, I got a text from Adam introducing himself to me. We talked pretty much nonstop about anything and everything for about three days before he finally asked me to coffee the next Saturday.
On April 12, 2025, I walked into Moor Coffee and met Adam in person! That hour and a half at coffee was one of the easiest conversations of my life. I knew then that he was something special and I wanted to see him again! But the next week was very busy for both of us so we set another date for two weeks out.
That same night, I was sitting on my couch in my comfy pants watching baseball and I got a text from Adam. "I'm watching the fights with a group of my buddies tonight. Would you want to come?"
Let's be honest, I didn't want to put my pants with a button back on nor did I want to watch the fights, but I knew I didn't really want to wait two weeks to see him. So what did I end up doing? Seeing him again that same night!
I don't remember exactly, but I think we hung out four times in that first week! Ever since then, it's been a steady progression in our relationship which led to eventual talks of marriage and life together.
After about six and a half months of dating, Adam proposed on October 26, 2025. We will get married on April 11, 2026 - exactly 364 days after the day we first met in person!
