The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art houses the Kansas State University permanent art collection, which originated in 1928. It has the most space devoted to the widest variety of Kansas art in the state. It is a destination for those seeking to discover Kansas and its history through the eyes of scores of talented artists.The collection now boasts nearly 7,000 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper from the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries. Visitors can see work by Birger Sandzen, Thomas Hart Benton, Lester Raymer, Robert Sudlow, Alan Shields, Dean Mitchell, Roger Shimomura, Shirley Smith, Wendell Castle, Randy Regier, and Dale Chihuly.Opened in 1996, the Beach Museum of Art expanded in 2007. The museum offers an in-depth look at Kansas art, but also brings art and artists from around the world to the heart of Kansas.
