Nick and I met in the summer of 2010. My friend, Avrey, and I were at Deermont baseball fields watching her dad umpire a game. Well.. it just so happened that he was umpiring Nick's middle school's baseball team. After the game, we were introduced and that was the start of our forever.
Now to tell our engagement story - my fave! I had been dying to go bowling so Nick told me he would take me bowling and then we were going back to his parent's house for a bon fire (which we had been planning for weeks). So, Nick came over to my house after work and he was wearing a nice button down shirt and jeans. I was like, "Why are you dressed so nice? We are just going bowling and then to a bon fire". His response was "this is the only clean shirt I have (which was probably true)." So I didn't think anything about it. We went bowling and of course he won both of the games we played. Now we were heading to his parent's house for the bon fire. When we were about five minutes away he asked me, "do you have any gum?" I told him no, that I didn't have any. He then says, "well I need some." and pulled over into the gas station. I thought it was so weird that he needed gum that bad when we were so close to the house - but afterwards it all made sense (he needed to breath before he proposed). Once he got back in the truck, we headed for the house. We pulled in the driveway, got out and walked around to the back of the house (which is what we always d0). His dad was just sitting on the back porch, his sister and brother-in-law were playing corn hole. It was normal. Then he kept walking around to the other side of the house, and that's when I saw it. The lights, the candles, and the words "marry me?" This was it. The moment I had been waiting for was here. Both of our families came out from around corner. They were hiding in the house with all of the lights out. He wanted them all there but didn't want me to see any of their cars so he had them park at the John Deere store down the street and carpool everyone over. Nick had planned the most perfect proposal and it was the perfect start to our forever.
