We met during our college years, Brooks as a sophomore and Addison as a freshman, but in many ways our story had been unfolding long before that. Our parents attended Ouachita together, and our extended families had been close friends throughout our childhoods. Because of this, we had heard about and known of each other for years before our paths finally crossed in college and we truly got to know one another.

Our first date was on October 15, 2022. In the weeks that followed, we spent time getting to know each other, learning one another’s hearts, and enjoying being together. This was both of our first experiences in a relationship. Although there was genuine care and excitement, the timing did not feel quite right to Brooks and he called it off. Even during that season of distance, we now see that God was still at work, shaping us individually and gently preparing us for what was to come.

As Brooks prepared to begin his junior year and Addison her sophomore year, the Lord continued to draw Brooks’ heart back, while Addison was completely unaware of what God was stirring in him. After months of prayer, growth, and patience, Brooks reached out just before the fall semester ended to apologize for the abrupt and foolish ending, and asked Addison on another date over Christmas break. Addison offered grace, and that step of faith changed everything. On January 14, 2024, we officially began dating.

From that point on, our relationship grew deeper and stronger. Our time together was filled with joyful memories, many ice cream and Cracker Barrel dates, sports games, meaningful conversations, adventures both big and small, and plenty of laughter. Through it all, our love was rooted in faith and built on friendship, confirming what we both came to know so clearly, that God was calling us to walk through life together- it just took patience to uncover his timing for that.

On April 12, 2025, we got engaged and joyfully began planning our marriage, set for June 6, 2026. We are incredibly grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness in bringing us back together at exactly the right time and for His continual provision throughout our journey. As we look ahead, we are excited to build our marriage on His goodness, grace, and love, and to step into this next chapter hand in hand.
