Addy and Shaun's story began long before they ever said a word to each other.

In high school, Addy was playing in an area basketball tournament at the expo center when she first noticed a boys' team called Weleetka. She hadn't heard much about them—just that they were good—and that a pair of brothers on the team were especially talented. One player caught her eye as she sat in the stands watching the game. It was Shaun.

She told her mom right then and there that she had a crush on him. Her mom told her to talk to him, but Addy was too shy.

From then on, whenever their paths crossed—at track meets or tournaments—she'd get butterflies but never built up the courage to say hello.

Over the next few years, even into college, Shaun would pop into Addy's thoughts from time to time. He was just one of those people she always wondered about.

Fast forward nearly eight years. Addy was living overseas, playing professional basketball in the Netherlands. One night, she and her roommate were joking around about boys when his name popped into her head. She laughed and asked, "Should I add him on Snapchat?" Her friend told her to go for it — she was in a different country.

She added him. He added her back. And then... he messaged her.

From that point on, they started talking every day. They'd call, joke around, share music, and just get to know each other—first as friends, then something more. Over the next few months, the two built a connection that felt easy and real.

When Addy returned home from the Netherlands, they finally met in person and started spending more time together. From the very beginning, things just clicked. It didn't take long before they were inseparable, missing each other when they were apart, and realizing that they'd found something special.

What started as a high school crush, turned into a friendship that turned into love.
