Rent a pedal-assisted electric bicycle and explore the different Bend neighborhoods (West side, NW Crossing, 'The Mill" district). While you'll still have to pedal, the battery-assist will make climbing the hills feel easy.

Love mountain biking? Bend, OR is a world-class mecca for hundreds and hundreds of miles of interconnected trails. From beginner to expert, there is something for everyone. We like to support Pine Mountain Sports, 541 385 8080, www.pinemountainsports.com who will hook you up with everything from helmet to bicycle.
About a 20 minute drive from Bend. While there are many, many beautiful waterfalls scattered in the area, Tumalo Fall is for sure among everyone's favorite. Walk up to the viewing platforms, venture further into the North Fork trail to discover more waterfalls (for the mountain bikers, this is one of t he top 3 rides in the area, albeit for advanced intermediate riders only).
Other close and easy to get to waterfalls include Benham Falls and Dillon Falls along the Deschutes River Trail which can be accessed via a short hike or mountain bike ride.
Everyone has their favorite Bend beer (23 brew pubs and counting), but mine has always been and still is Deschutes beer. Want to see how this local ambrosia is brewed? Free samples of the current seasonal or yearly selections? Lots of cool beer schwagg like bike jerseys, t-shirts, bottle openers, sweatshirts, hats, and much more.
Tours are free, but reservations suggested.
Other local favorite brewpubs:
Crux Fermentation: best place to watch the sunset in town, locals like ordering food cart chow and throwing down some cornhole bags. https://www.cruxfermentation.com/
Immersion Brewing: want to brew your unique one-of-a-kind keg? They'll show you how to do it here? Don't want to wait till your fermentation complete? They have plenty of Immersion selections and better than most pub food. http://imbrewing.com/
Cascade Lakes: been around long time. Very varied menu. Full bar for the non-beer drinkers. A local favorite in the winter with weekly ski parties and raffles. http://cascadelakes.com/
Craft Kitchen and Brewery: not a brewery, but they carry all the local favorites. Come here to drink and dine above the Deschutes River and watch the paddle boarders, river inner tube floaters, and more pass by. http://www.craftkitchenandbrewery.com/
Brother Jons: not a brewery either, but they carry all the good stuff (rotating taps), full bar (fresh squeezed Margaritas) with the best Mac n' heese (spicy and can add buffalo meat) and our favorite black bean veggie burger. Gets packed, so go early or expect wait. http://www.brotherjonspublichouse.com/
Hit them all on the famous "Ale Trail"
Description: The Deschutes River is never far from anywhere in Bend. This section of the river is part of the urban system of well marked trails about a 3 mile loop. It is fairly flat without any need to climb or descend. It can be done by those with only average fitness/endurance. For the more adventurous, there is short section of big river boulders that can be climbed and negotiated as an alternate bypass. We'll have plenty of rest opportunities usually manifested as 'photo ops'. This section usually has lots of water recreation with kayaks, paddle boarders. and tube floaters. If you still want more, we can follow the trail up to the Farewell Bend park for picnic refreshments and /or continue onto the commercial area known as "The Mill" for some food, drinks or shopping.
Bend has abundant golf courses at all prices and levels. Local word is that there are as many golf courses as there are breweries. Whether urban legend or truth, there are lots of golfing opportunities. However, golfers are on your own 'cause I have never golfed in my life.
