What should I wear?
Summers in Bosnia can be hot! Our wedding will take place in the hotel's garden, so while we encourage you all to look your best, we recommend wearing summer colors and summer materials!
What time should I arrive at the venue?
Our ceremony will start at 16:00 sharp! Please be on time.
What if I am ready before 16:00?
Bosnians like to start the party early! We will start serving beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) at 15:00. Cheers! Or as us Bosnians say "Živjeli"!
How do I book my stay?
Our wedding will take place at Hotel Europe. If you wish to stay at Hotel Europe, please make your reservation via email at reservation@hoteleurope.ba. Please be sure to include your name, the amount of guests, and the dates. English speaking guests may email the hotel in English. To receive a 30% discount per night, please let them know that you are attending "The Wedding of Alen and Adna - July 13, 2024". Guests will also receive free breakfast and free access to the gym and pool. Hotel Europe's staff is very responsive via email and will answer any questions you may have regarding special requests or room rates. Any other questions may be directed to Adna and Alen.
Do I have to stay at Hotel Europe?
No! Our guests are welcome to book their stay wherever they please in the city of Sarajevo.
Are there any Bosnian traditions I should know?
Yes! "Kićenje svatova" is where traditionally, two unwed female relatives will pin boutonnieres on the guests upon arrival. The guests in return place money into a basket. At the end of the night, the money that is collected in the basket will go to the two unwed female relatives!
Another fun Bosnian wedding tradition is where guests will try to steal the bride's shoe. If you succeed, the Best Man will try to buy the shoe back from you. Name your price!
What are some simple phrases in Bosnian?
Hello = "Zdravo" (Zdrah-voe)
Goodbye = "Cao" Or "Prijatno" (Pree-yacht-no)
Thank you = "Hvala" (Hva-la)
Do I need a Visa to enter Bosnia & Herzegovina?
If you are an American citizen, you do not need a Visa. However, you will need a valid passport (of course).
Which city do I fly into?
Many of our American guests are using our wedding as an opportunity to see more of Europe! And we encourage you to. However, if you wish to fly directly into Bosnia, you will need to choose Sarajevo as your arrival city. You may also fly into Split or Dubrovnik (both in Croatia) as a cheaper, alternative option. Public transportation options are available online as well as car rentals.
Am I allowed to have a plus one?
Guests who have approval for a plus one will find their plus one's names when RSVPing on our website.
When do I need to RSVP by?
Please RSVP no later than May 1, 2024. Please make sure that our website has your name spelled correctly. See you in Sarajevo!
