Driving:<a href="https://transportation.utoronto.ca/parking-map-rates/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The University of Toronto website has this handy map of parking lots on and around campus.</a> While machines are available, it may be more convenient to download the GreenP Parking app so you can handle parking payment on your phone. The closest lot is the Landmark Garage underneath King's College Circle and is accessible from Wellesley St. West. Transit:The closest station to Hart House is Museum Station on Line 1 - University side, but it is also a short walk from St. George Station and Queen's Park Station, also on Line 1 - University side. For those coming on Line 2, the closest stops are St. George Station and Bay Station.

At the Venue

Once you arrive at Hart House, please follow signage to head up to the Debates room, where the ceremony and cocktail hour will be held. The main entrance to Hart House is right on Hart House circle, and the accessible entrances are on the east and west sides off of Tower Road and Queen's Park Circle. There are elevators inside for anyone who cannot take the stairs :) Dinner will be held just down the hall in the Music Room.

Day-of Information

Flying

1. Toronto Pearson International AirportPearson is the largest airport in Toronto and is located outside of the city centre in Mississauga. Driving: It is an hour drive to downtown Toronto and Hart House. The main two ways are to take the ON-427 South to the Gardiner Expressway, or to take the ON-401 West to either the Allen Road or Avenue Road exits, depending on your hotel location. Rush hour in Toronto is from 7AM-10AM and 3PM-7PM, so expect traffic! Transit: The fastest way to get from Pearson to downtown via transit is by using the UP Express train! An adult one-way ticket from Pearson to Union Station is $12.35 (purchasable online or in person) and takes about 30 minutes. From there, you can take Line 1 University Line (west side) or Yonge Line (east side) to travel up into the rest of the city. In the subway, you can either tap your credit card on the turnstiles or use a Presto machine to purchase passes. 2. Billy Bishop Toronto City AirportBilly Bishop is the smaller of the two Toronto Airports and it is located on the Toronto Islands, just across the water from downtown Toronto. Driving: The rest of Toronto can be accessed from Billy Bishop by going north on Bathurst or Spadina, or east/west on Lakeshore Boulevard, depending on where your hotel is located. Traffic can be very heavy, so please plan for longer driving times than what map apps show. Also, you may have to take the Airport Ferry with your rental car, if the shore-side terminal is still under construction in May. Transit: The 511 Bathurst and 510 Spadina streetcars are located just a short walk from Billy Bishop Airport and can take you north into the city. You can also take the 509 Queens Quay streetcar to Union Station, from which you can take the Line 1 University side (west) or the Line 1 Yonge side (east) north into the city. You can tap your credit card to pay on streetcars and for the subway, or you can purchase passes inside of subway stations.

Transit

BusesDepending on where you are traveling from, you may have the option to take a Flixbus, Greyhound bus, GO bus, or Megabus to Toronto. Flixbus, Greyhound, and GO will drop you at the Union Bus station in downtown Toronto. From there, you can follow the signs to the Union subway station where you can take the Line 1 subway on either the Yonge Line (east) or the University Line (west) up into the city and to your hotel. In Union Station, you can either tap your credit card at the turnstile or use a Presto Machine to purchase a pass. Megabus will drop you at the Toronto Bus Terminal at 610 Bay Street, at the intersection of Bay St. and Dundas St. West. To access the western side of the Line 1 subway, you can walk west to St. Patrick Station at the intersection of University Ave and Dundas St. West. To access the eastern side of the Line 1 subway, you can walk east to Dundas Station at Yonge-Dundas Square. The 505 Dundas streetcar is also right next to the bus stop and can take you east/west. You can either tap your credit card to pay or use a Presto machine to buy a TTC pass. Trains Depending on where you are traveling from, you may be able to take Amtrak, VIA Rail, or the GO train into Toronto. All three will drop you at Union Station in downtown Toronto. From the train station, you can follow the signage to the Union subway station, where you can take the Line 1 subway on either the Yonge Line (east) or the University Line (west) up into the city and to your hotel. In Union Station, you can either tap your credit card at the turnstile or use a Presto Machine to purchase a pass.

Travel

For out-of-town guests, we reserved a block of rooms with the DoubleTree by Hilton at 108 Chestnut Street for the night of May 16th, with a limited number of rooms also reserved for May 15th. The rooms will be held until April 1, 2026, so make sure to book early! As Canada's largest city, Toronto has innumerable attractions. Here are some of our favorites!

The largest zoo in Canada (15x the size of the Philadelphia zoo!), the Toronto Zoo is an AZA-accredited facility with an incredibly diverse collection. Located in Scarborough, on the eastern edge of Toronto. I (Adonis) worked here for a season in the Australasia pavilion, and can give some behinds the scenes facts and info on some of the Australasian animals if you let me know before your visit!

Toronto Zoo

Canada's leading museum, home to exhibits on art, culture, and natural history. Located just minutes from the Bata Shoe Museum and the Gardiner Museum (as well as Hart House!)

Royal Ontario Museum

Toronto's aquarium, includes all the essentials (sharks, cool jellyfish, and stingray petting)

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada

Our favorite of Toronto's many parks, in Toronto's west end. It features both curated gardens and multiple ecosystem types, including rare oak savannas. In the center of the park is a mini zoo, which includes bison, llamas, highland cattle, and emus! Our first date was in High Park :)

High Park

A little museum dedicated to textile arts of all kinds. Currently hosting an exhibit celebrating their 50th anniversary! Located close to the Art Gallery of Ontario, Chinatown, Kensington Market, and Yonge-Dundas Square

Textile Museum of Canada

A museum all about shoes! Not just their designs, but also their history and what shoes can tell you about the people who wear them. Located close to the Royal Ontario Museum and the Gardiner Museum.

Bata Shoe Museum

A must-see neighborhood in downtown Toronto for foodies and vintage lovers! Our favorite spot in the neighborhood is the Arch Cafe, which serves Middle Eastern brunch and coffee.

Kensington Market

Located across the street from the Royal Ontario Museum, the Gardiner is a museum all about ceramics.

Gardiner Museum

One of our favorite restaurants! Storm Crow Manor is a bar themed after all things nerdy and geeky, with delicious food and incredible cocktails. Located in Church and Wellesley, Toronto's gayborhood.
