"The Night of Posole and Possibility"It was a Sunday afternoon, the kind of day that felt like it belonged in a memory long before it was over. The scent of simmering posole filled every room of Benjamin’s aunt’s house, warm and inviting like the voices of family floating in the air. The backyard was alive with cousins playing, aunts laughing, and old boleros playing from a speaker someone had set on a windowsill.Adriana had come with a friend—someone’s cousin from out of town. She didn’t expect to stay long. But then she saw Benjamin.He was standing in the kitchen, stirring a massive pot with care, sleeves rolled up, the air full of chile and corn and something tender in his quiet smile.
