The word sacrament comes from the latin word "sacramentum" which means covenant oath. When Adrienne and Luke receive the "sacrament of marriage", they make a covenant to permanent union with each other. A union by which they become witnesses to Christ's spousal love for the Church.
Adrienne and Luke will be married according to the traditional latin rite of the Catholic Church. The wedding ceremony will be broken up into two parts, the first part being the Rite of Marriage (exchanging of vows) followed by the second part, a Tridentine Mass (traditional liturgy).
The Tridentine Latin Mass is the offering of the Lamb of God, who is the Bread of Life. This practice was foreshadowed by the Old Testament practices of the Levitical and Melchizedek priesthoods and fulfilled by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper. The Tridentine Mass is colloquially known as "The Mass of the Ages"- for this mass was the sole liturgical practice of Christians in the West for hundreds of years, from the time of the Last Supper to the protestant reformation. The entire mass, aside from the homily, is said in latin.
Out of respect to the customs of the faith, the couple kindly asks their guests embrace a modest semi-formal or business casual dress for the wedding ceremony. Below are some general dress code guidelines:
Ladies- skirts or dresses covering the knees, sleeves that cover the shoulders, dresses or blouses with a modest neckline, a chapel veil (this will be provided upon entrance into the Church). Please no dresses/skirts with leg slits, tops with exposed backs or plunging necklines.
Gentlemen- Button down shirts, slacks, suits, or military uniform. Please no sneakers.
In the Church, we veil what is sacred.
YOU are sacred!
Yes, there will be an open bar serving beer and wine.
